The area got a taste of state tournament season this past week when field hockey began.
Now it’s time for the other sports to join the fray, and soccer takes center stage with the girls beginning their touraments today and the boys on Wednesday.
If you want a repeat of last year’s Nashua North-South semifinal classic, they are in the same bracket (2-3) and could play if they each win their first two tourney games. However, that would be at Exeter’s Bill Ball Stadium on Nov. 2, not in Nashua like it was a year ago.

If both win, they host again on Sunday in the quarters, South vs. either No. 7 Manchester Memorial or No.10 Winnacunnet, and North could get local rival Bishop Guertin if the No. 11 Cardinals (8-7-1) upset No. 6 Manchester Central (11-4-1) in Wednesday’s other local prelim, set for 6 p.m. at Manchester’s Gill Stadium. Otherwise the Little Green come to Stellos.

It was a great regular season for the Cougars of Campbell (No. 2, 14-2), but they’ll still have to play a first-round game, hosting No. 15 Hopkinton (5-9-2) on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
If Campbell wins, it would host the quarters this Sunday vs. either No. 7 Winnasquam (12-4) or No. 10 Hillsboro-Deering (10-5-1).
The semifinals and finals are at Manchester Memorial on Nov. 2 (4, 6:15 p.m.) and Sunday Nov. 6 (1 p.m.)
