HS Roundup: BG boys soccer rallies; field hockey wins

It was a good day Wednesday for a couple of Bishop Guertin teams as the Cardinal boys soccer squad rallied for its eighth win, clinching the program’s first winning season in several years, and field hockey won its 10th game, clinching home field in the first round of next week’s Division I field hockey tourney.
Meanwhile, Nashua South field hockey honored its seniors, and there was volleyball action galore:
BOYS SOCCER
BISHOP GUETIN 3, LONDONDERRY 2
The Cardinals (8-5-1) battled back from a 2-0 deficit against the Lancers. Collin Mills scored the game winning goal off a corner kick. Rayaan Hameed tallied two goals. Mills, Liam Ireland and Jordan Oliviera added assists. Carson Leo played great defensively and Beau Boughter made three saves. BG visits Hanover on October 18.
FIELD HOCKEY
BISHOP GUERTIN 4, TIMBERLANE 1
The Cardinals end the regular season with a win against the Owls. Sophie Bilodeau, Maddie Harrington, Hailey LeBlanc and Katy Paveglio all put one past the goalie. Taylor Guibord and Hannah Lynch each had an assist. Bella Rioux made saves.
BG sits at 10-5-1 and the Cards will likely host a preliminary round game next week.
WINNACUNNET 6, NASHUA NORTH 0
The Titans end the season with a record of 0-16 and were unable to score a goal throughout the season, but first year head coach Zoe Fillebrown said she feels she has laid a foundation of fundamentals for the program going forward.
WINDHAM 8, NASHUA SOUTH 0
The Panthers (3-12-1) end their season with a home loss to the Jaguars. Kaitlyn Tello stood strong in net once again with 29 saves. South celebrated their eight seniors, Krista Reid, Pari Parikh, DJ Pires, Ava Foss, Brady Murray and captains Tello, Maddie Berthiaume and Lizzie DeRusha.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
PINKERTON 3, NASHUA SOUTH 2
The Panthers (5-9) fall to the Astros 19-25, 25-21, 25-23, 18-25, 12-15. Maddie L’heureux (13 assists, five aces), Katie Garland (six kills, four aces) and Paige Oulette (four blocks, three kills) played well in the loss. South visits Bishop Guertin on Friday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3, MERRIMACK 0
The Cavaliers (13-2) sweep the Tomahawks (1-12) 25-9, 25-21, 25-19. Cheyenne Colbert (13 kills, three aces), Annette Schlunk (10 kills), Kate Berrigan (two blocks), Sophie Jordan (34 assists) and Maia Schneider (10 digs) were HB’s top performers.
Lily Petrocelli had nine digs and seven kills with Rachel Flett adding five kills and five digs for Merrimack.
HB visits Concord on Monday and Merrimack hosts Concord on Friday.
SPAULDING 3, BISHOP GUERTIN 2
The Cardinals drop to 9-5 a loss to Spaulding on the road. BG hosts Nashua South on Friday.
PORTSMOUTH 3, ALVIRNE 0
The Broncos (5-10) fell on the road to the Clippers Wednesday night. Cienna Clay and Diana McElhinney played well in the loss. Alvirne visits Keene on Friday.
