HS Roundup: Top contenders North, South get soccer wins

Don’t look now, but the Nashua High School North and South boys soccer teams are one-two atop Division I.
Both teams won at Stellos Stadium on Thursday, and the Titans, winners of eight straight are 9-2 while South is now 8-2. But, of course, there’s plenty of soccer left to play.
Here’s the rundown of Thursday’s local action, a lot of it soccer:
BOYS SOCCER
NASHUA NORTH 3, LONDONDERRY 1
The Titants got two goals from Preston Thompson, giving him 10 on the season, while Arthur Santos had a goal and two assists.
North visits Spaulding on Monday.
NASHUA SOUTH 4, CONCORD 0
Rory Olsen paced the Panthers with two goals, while Sam Hadouche and Santiago Somorrostro each had a goal.
Ansh Khanna had two saves in net to preserve the shutout, while Revin Olsen and Barion Perry also played well for South, which has a big one at 7-2 Exeter on Saturday at 1 p.m.
SALEM 1, BISHOP GUERTIN 0
The Cards’ winless streak extended to four games with a tough one-goal loss. Guertin (5-4-1) hosts Dover on Tuesday.
TIMBERLANE 4, ALVIRNE 3 (OT)
It was a heartbreaking loss for the Broncos, who fell to 2-7 despite goals from Sameer Murthy, Nate Chava and freshman Sane Plumley.
Alvirne is at Keene on Tuesday.
KINGSWOOD 4, SOUHEGAN 0
The Sabers tough season continues as they fell to 1-8. Finnegan Daly had seven saves in goal against the Knights, who improved to 9-2.
Souhegan visits Pelham on Tuesday.
GIRLS SOCCER
LONDONDERY 1, NASHUA NORTH 0
The Titans frustrations continue, even as they play well, suffering their 10th straight loss (1-10). They outshot the Lancers (5-5)
Still, Mary Pappas, Alli and Sarah Frye played well for North, which hosts Spaulding on Monday.
CONCORD 4, NASHUA SOUTH 0
It was a tough visit to Memorial Field for the Panthers, who fell to 6-4. South hosts unbeaten Exeter on Saturday.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
DOVER 3, NASHUA SOUTH 1
The Panthers fell 23-25, 23-25, 26-24, 22-25 to return back to .500 at 5-5.
Mia Suljic led the South effort with 12 kills, 16 digs and four aces, while Carolann Mathieu (11 kills, two digs) and Maddy L’Heureux (23 asists, 13 digs, four aces) also played well.
The Panthers visit Salem on Tuesday.
GOLF
Bow 197, Hollis Brookline 219, Alvirne 224
Noah LeClair shot an even par 36 at Overlook to grab medalist honors and pace the Broncos, who still suffered two losses.
It was a split for the host Cavaliers, who were led by Martin bergeron (38), Charlie Hale (39), Reid Mitchell (42) and Cavan Quinn (47).
