HS Roundup: Milford volleyball bows; BG fishermen second
Other than the Battle of the Bridge soccer twinbill at Stellos, it was a very light day on the high school docket, thanks in part to the rain that lasted until late afternoon.
But volleyball is indoors, although the Spartans from Milford probably wished they, too, could have had the day off instead of falling to Oyster River. But the Campbell girls soccer team is glad it played, as the Cougars got a big win in overtime.
Also, you can certainly fish in the rain, and the NHIAA held a qualifying round of that sport’s tournament.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
OYSTER RIVER 3, MILFORD 1
The Spartans fell to 4-2 after losing the final two sets to the Bobcats, 25-20, 25-18. The teams split the first two, Oyster River taking the opener 25-14 and and Milford bounding back in set two, 25-20.
Bailey Johnson led Milford with 13 kills, four blocks and two digs. Other Spartan contributors included Kassie Kupin (two aces, a kill), Hannah Harrington (23 assists, a kill, an ace), Alena Letendre (12 digs, six kills), Annalise Nassy (three kills, a block), and Piper Greenhalgh (10 digs,two kills).
GIRLS SOCCER
CAMPBELL 1, TRINITY 0 (2 OT)
Morgan Wagner had the double overtime winner, assisted by Heidi Smith, as the Cougars used a complete team effort to improve to 6-0 on the season.
Sam Roche had three saves in goal for Campbell, which is at Monadnock on Tuesday. Trinity fell to 3-4-1.
BASS FISHING
BISHOP GUERTIN SECOND, SOUHEGAN THIRD
The Cardinals were second in state qualifying on Lake Winipesaukee, with a total weight of 19.72, behind Keene’s 21.56.
Souhegan was third in 18.86 pounds, while Milford was sixth with a total of 16.01 pounds in fish caught.
Nashua South finished 17th, Alvirne was 19th, Hollis Brookline came in 22nd and Nashua North was tied with Newport for 30th.
