Good things come to those who wait, and it was a tough wait for the Hollis Brookline High School football team.

But it was worth it as they routed winless Lebanon for their first win of the season on Friday night in Hollis after a hard week of practice following two losses.

“It was a long week for the kids,” Cavs coach Chris Lones said, “and they didn’t want next week to be worse.”

Two other local teams won last night, as Souhegan cruised by Mancheser West and Campbell shut out Stevens. Alvirne and Milford, however, suffered lopsided losses.

Here’s the rundown:

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 47, LEBANON 0

Elliot Troddyn had 100 yards of offense while Adam York had 75, and QB Jacob Valez passed for 260 yards and three TDs as the Cavs now stand at 1-2.

Ben Hoesch had 85 receiving yards and a TD, while Braydon Laub had 90 yards and a touchdown.

But it wasn’t just all about offense for the Cavaliers last night as defensively they pitched a shutout with five sacks and 12 tackles for loss.

Colin Robinson had 11 tackles, John McCole seven, Ethan Strauss five, and Austin Dougherty eight. HB is at Pelham next Friday.

SOUHEGAN 41, MANCHESTER WEST 14

Carson Behn and J.J. Bright each had two rushing TDs, while quarterback Romy Jain had two touchdowns as well as the Sabers moved to 3-0 on the season in Amherst.

Sam Stevenson was all over the field on defense for the Sabers, who are at Lebanon next Saturday.

HANOVER 40, MILFORD 14

The Spartans suffered their second straight loss, despite a Harris Jones TD pass to Owen Durant and Kenny Bradford TD run. Bradford added a two-point conversion as well.

Now 1-2, Milford hosts Bow next Friday. Hanover is now 3-0.

CAMPBELL 16, STEVENS 0

The visiting Cougars improved to 3-0 in Claremont as Scott Hershberger continues his torrid start, rushing for 140 yards and two touchdowns.

Campbell will host Inter-Lakes next Friday night.

PINKERTON 42, ALVIRNE 6

The Broncos, missing five starters, could only muster an Elijah Ellis 45-yard TD on a screen play to fall to 0-3. Alvirne was only able to dress 28 players against the state’s largest school in Hudson.

The Broncos will host Concord next Friday for their third straight home game.
