The area high school football teams who were home all won on Friday. But conversely, it was a tough night for local football teams on the road as Merrimack, Hollis Brookline and Alvirne all suffered losses after getting off the bus:

BONNY EAGLE 33, MERRIMACK 26

Reimello Hyde was one bright spot for the Tomahawks up in Standish, Me., scoring three TDs and playing well on defense. Trent Jackson had a long TD pass to Own Sadowski and Ryan Turley had an impactful game on both sides of the ball.

“A good game, but not well-played by us,” Merrimack coach Kip Jackson said. “We made too many mistakes to beat a very good Boney Eagle team.”

SPAULDING 36, ALVIRNE 13

In a game betwween two programs that didn’t win a game last season, the Red Raiders can now say they have. Highlights for the Broncos were a Cole Dionne 40-yard TD reception and an Aiden Mills 20-yard TD run.

The Broncos host Merrimack next Friday.

HANOVER 35, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 6

The Bears stormed out to a 28-0 halftime lead and never looked back, keyed by the rushing of Jeffrey Vidou (106 yards and two TDs in just the first half).

HB scored on a Jacob Valez TD pass to Ben Hoesch.

The Cavs visit Hillsboro-Deering/Hopkinton next Saturday afternoon.
