Nothing ever came easy for the Nashua High School South boys soccer team during its title season of 2021. Well, the same will certainly be true for its defense of 2022, as the Panthers opened that up with a one-goal win on Tuesday.

Soccer was the sport of the day, as Alvirne, Campbell, Milford, and Hollis Brookline were winners on the boys side. And read on to see who the fastest high school runners are in Nashua as South, North, and BG tangled in cross country.

Meanwhile, Milford golf as well as Bishop Guertin boys and girls soccer vs. Concord were postponed and rescheduled.

Here’s a look at the first super busy day of the high school season:

BOYS SOCCER

NASHUA SOUTH 3, LONDONDERRY 2

The Panthers start off the season with a win against the Lancers. Jadiel Bomfim tallied two goals to pace the offense. Marcell Perry netted the game winner with seven minutes left in the match.

Santiago Sommorrostro, Joona Hantula and Marlon Butcher had assists. Ansh Khanna made eight saves in net. South hosts Windham on Thursday.

ALVIRNE 3, PINKERTON 1

The Broncos’ defense stood tall in their season opener with great performances from center backs Luis Davilla and Zack Proulx, plus keeper Lucas Maki.

WINNACUNNET 2, MERRIMACK 1

The host Tomahawks fell in a tight contest despite a second-half, game-tying goal by Cosimo Fricano, assisted by Ben Basoli,

CAMPBELL 6, HILLSBORO-DEERING 0

The Cougars shutout Hillsboro-Deering in their season opener. Luke Delia (two goals), Jack LaRose, Adin Brown (goal), Wyatt Hemming (goal), DJ Chaudhry (goal, assist), Tucker Matthews (two assists) and Justin Edmonds (assist) contributed to the offense. Brady Matthews and Jack Bourque shared time in net. Campbell visits Monadnock on Friday.

MILFORD 3, PELHAM 0

Caden Cremonini scored two goals and Gage Tlapa added one to secure the Spartans first win of the season. Milford visits Sanborn on Friday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 4, SOUHEGAN 1

The Cavaliers win their season opener against the Sabers on Tuesday afternoon. Parker Cheyenne netted two goals and Ryan Wisbey added one in the win. Goalie Owen Ford made four saves.

Souhegan’s Joe Bernasconi scored on an assist from Mike Ericksonn. Finnegan Daly made nine saves. HB visits Merrimack Valley and Souhegan visits Oyster River on Thursday.

CONANT 6, WILTON-LYNDEBOROUGH 2

The Division IV Warriors opened their season by playing the Division III Orioles tough. Alex Nelson had a goal and an assist while Kenny Begley had the other goal and Hary Krug added an assist. Ben Jacob was immense in goal with 20-plus saves.

GIRLS SOCCER

HANOVER 5, NASHUA NORTH 1

The Titans suffered a tough loss at home against Hanover. Lily Baker-Ollivierra scored the locals only goal and Nora Ross played well in goal. North visits Timberlane on Thursday.

PINKERTON 3, ALVIRNE 2

The Broncos lose their season opener to the Astros. Alvirne got two early goals from Paige Boudreau, but couldn’t hold on. Mallory Busnach and Bri Peters contributed assists.

Lyla Davis and Alekhya Buddhiraju played well in the midfield. Alvirne hosts Exeter on Friday.

PELHAM 6, MILFORD 3

The Spartans fell in their first contest of the season even though Keely Giordono, Marissa Sage and Ava Hutcheons each found the back of the net. Milford hosts Hollis Brookline on Thursday.

CONANT 5, WILTON-LYNDEBOROUGH 1

The young Warriors got a goal by Lexi Bausha, assisted by Cailin Swett.

FIELD HOCKEY

LEBANON 4, MILFORD 1

The Spartans lost on the road against Lebanon after a thunderstorm. Lauren Jasper scored the lone goal and Chloe Marchand made eight saves. Milford hosts Pembroke on Friday.

GOLF

KEENE 202, SPAULDING 217, NASHUA NORTH 219, MEMORIAL 240

The Titans finish the day in third at the Rochester Country Club. Eva Gonzales (41), Drew Goulet (43), Jack Sullivan (45), Owen White (45) and Can Burgess (45) were North’s top scorers.

WINNACUNNET 199, PORTSMOUTH 207, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 221, ST. THOMAS 225

The Cavaliers place third with Charlie Hale, Reid Mitchell and Lauren Mauch each scoring a 40.

BOYS & GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

NORTH’S LAFLAMME, HAYDEN ON TOP VS. SOUTH, BISHOP GUERTIN

The Titans, Panthers and Cardinals got together on Tuesday to decide the fastest runner in Nashua. North’s Andrew Laflamme won the boys race with a time of 17:56.3 and his teammates Kenneth Reel placed seventh and James Campbell was 10th. Daniel Byrne was runner up, Camdon Brien ended the day in sixth and Micah Allard was eighth for South. BG’s Samuel Prescott placed third, Matthew Giardina was fourth and Carson Fischer was fifth.

Annika Hayden won the girls race with a time 22:03.7, Erin Sung finished the day in third and Christina Juris was eighth representing North.

Anna Fondakowski placed in the runner up position, Katie Kraft finished fourth and Lyla Masson was sixth for BG. South’s Emely Melendez placed fifth, Katelyn Perry was seventh and Rebecca Hiscock finished 13th.

MERRIMACK’S BEDARD WINS AT LONDONDERRY

Melanie Bedard ran a time of 12:54 to pick up the win against runner from Londonderry and Dover at Londonderry High School. Megan McWhirter placed 14th and Zosia Yellin finished 17th. Cameron Fredette finished the boys race in third with a time of 10:23 and was followed by Nathan Beauregard and Tyler Safstrom.
