HS Roundup: Panthers top Pinkerton; Spartans stun Sabers

It had been a long time coming, possibly since the Nashua state title win in 1998, but the Nashua High School South Panthers got their first boys lacrosse win over Pinkerton Academy since North-South split of 2004, making it a memorable Monday at Stellos Stadium.

The Panther girls didn’t enjoy the same success. Meanwhile, BG got a big baseball win on the seacoast while Milford stunned Souhegan.

BOYS LACROSSE

NASHUA SOUTH 7, PINKERTON 3

Griffin Johnson rips in a hat trick leading the Panthers (13-4) offense past the Astros. Michael Rutstein (two goals), Connor Rowsell (goal, two assists), Parker Fleury (goal, assist) and Nate Campbell (assist) had big contributions on offense. Ethan Johnson made 20 saves and Cody Goode led the defensive unit. South hosts Keene on Wednesday.

BISHOP GUERTIN 20, KEENE-MONADNOCK 1

The Cardinals improve to 15-2 after their win on Monday. Powering the offense were Brady Dumont (four goals), Emerson Warren (three goals), Sebastian Zeman (two goals), Trevor Turenne (goal), Zach Kouchalakos (goal), Tim Kiely (goal, assist), Kevon Broderick (goal, assist), Connor Guibord (goal, assist), Connor Bouvier (goal, assist), Carter Jozokos (goal), jacob Caron (goal), Micah Dunsmoor (goal), Noah Zeman (goal), Sam Patenaude (goal), Connor Hughes (assist), Quinn Cepiel (two assists) and Daniel Woodford (assist).

Zach Connerty, Will Murphy, Liam O’Keefe and Michael MacDonough each had one save. BG hosts Cape Elizabeth on Thursday.

MERRIMACK 9, CONCORD 8 (OT)

The Tomahawks (8-7) hang on to win their third straight game. Connor Dunn (goal, assist) scored the game winner in overtime. Shea Goodwin (two assists) and Alec Vietry (assist) collected hat tricks. Ryan Rezendes had two goals, Kyle Dunn tallied two assists and Jackson Forbes had an assist. Aidan Ward had six saves.

With the win Merrimack will finish with a winning record for the first time ever since the move to Division I. Merrimack hosts Nashua North on Wednesday.

SOUHEGAN 16, NASHUA NORTH 2

The Sabers (7-9) grab a decisive win at home against the Titans (1-15). Adeen Ahmed and Alec Jenkerson each scored a goal with Devyn Lavoie making four saves for North.

Souhegan hosts Portsmouth and North visits Merrimack on Wednesday.

GIRLS LACROSSE

BISHOP GUERTIN 12, NOTRE DAME OF HINGHAM (MA) 9

Rylee Bouvier (two assists), Katie Campel and Steph Reap tallied hat tricks in the Cardinals (14-1-1) win. Tess Prunier scored two goals, Nat Coutu had a goal and an assist, Lauren Redfern had two assists and Arianna Kouchalakas added an assist. Makenna Reekie made five saves in net. BG visits Salem on Tuesday.

PINKERTON 16, NASHUA SOUTH 4

The Panthers (12-4) fall to the fast paced Astros. Ella Benzekri led the way with three goals and five draw controls and Maren Lowell contributed a goal and an assist.

Keira Walsh had six saves in net for South, which visits Londonderry on Wednesday.

CAMPBELL 19, INTER-LAKES 12

Bailey Bourque (six goals, two assists) recorded her 100th goal to lead the Cougars (9-5) in a high scoring game against Inter-Lakes.

Brooke Stoncius tallied four goals and five assists, while Kristina Castellan and Elayna Montenero added four goals apiece in the win. Campbell hots Lebanon on Wednesday.

BISHOP GUERTIN 12, NOTRE DAME OF HINGHAM (MA) 9

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 21, JOHN STARK 3

Paige Mello put together a seven goal and two assist night leading the Cavaliers (12-3) offensive outburst. Sabrina hill (four goals, assist), Ireland Stark (three goals, assist), Bella Haytayan (two goals, assist), Alyssa Hill (two goals, six assists), Cailean Roy (goal, assist), Kaitlyn Castriotta (goal, three assists) and Abbie Ogren (goal, three assists) played great for the locals.

Hallie Bardani made five saves. HB hosts Manchester Memorial-West on Wednesday.

MERRIMACK VALLEY 14, ALVIRNE 6

The Broncos (1-13) fell for the fourth game in a row on Monday. Halle Miller and Madison Nicolosi led the team with two goals apiece.

Emma Fopiano and Jordan Sweeney picked up their first goals of the season. Makayla Meehan played strong defense and Alexa Kruger made 17 saves.

Alvirne hosts Portsmouth on Thursday.

BASEBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 13, DOVER 3

The hot bats continue for the Cardinals (11-7) as they have scored 10 plus runs in their last three games. Jake Boudreau got the win pitching four innings allowing one run on four hits, while striking out three. Sam Franco pitched in relief giving up one earned run on two hits.

BG was led offensively by Dominic Monico (double, run, two RBIs), Luke Anderson (two hits, two runs, two stolen bases, two RBIs), Dante Nieto (hit, two RBIs) and Ryan Haskell (hit, run, three RBIs).

BG hosts Nashua North tonight at Holman Stadium.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 5, COE-BROWN 1

Jack Lager pitched a complete game giving up five hits, one run and struck out 10 in the Cavaliers win. Padge MacSeain (two hits, two RBIs) and Charlie Hale (two hits, RBI) led the way on offense.

HB hosts St. Thomas on Wednesday.

MILFORD 2, SOUHEGAN 1

Damian Philbrick allowed six hits, one run and struck out six over seven innings to push the Spartans (5-10) past the Sabers (12-5). Landon Pierce had two hits to lead Milford and Jake Lammi played great on defense.

Souhegan’s Keegan Burke took the loss allowing four hits and two runs while striking out 10 over six innings. Brandon Dufour led the Sabers offense with three hits.

Milford hosts ConVal and Souhegan visits Lebanon on Wednesday.

SOFTBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 8, DOVER 0

Meghan Davey allowed three hits and struck out nine in the Cardinals (10-7) shutout win over Dover. BG scored all eight runs in the first two innings. Torey Hart and Bella Nutting each had two hits. BG visits Timberlane on Wednesday.

BEDFORD 13, NASHUA SOUTH 0

The Panthers (2-14) late season struggles continue via the shutout by the Bulldogs. Morgan Gillis had a single and Elizabeth DeRusha allowed five hits, 13 runs and struck out two in four innings.

South hosts Manchester Central-Memorial on Wednesday.

CONCORD 4, MERRIMACK 1

The Tomahawks (9-7) struggled on the road only getting four hits. Ashlyn Cassetty, Grace Lawton, Hannah Stone and Avery Hui had a hit apiece.

Hui pitched six innings allowing four runs on eight hits.

Merrimack hosts Keene on Wednesday.

COE-BROWN 5, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 2

The Cavaliers (9-5) lost a battle at home against Coe-Brown. Ava Imbrogno had three hits and the only two RBIs when she hit a triple. Kailey Disco had two singles, Emily Tebbetts added a double and Austyn Kump had two singles.

Kump also allowed eight hits and struck out four on the mound for HB, which hosts Hanover on Wednesday.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3, PINKERTON 0

The Cavaliers (11-2) win their fourth game in a row by the scores of 25-23, 25-19, 25-15. Jake Laborde (eight kills, four aces), Aidan Norris (seven kills, 16 digs), Kaleb Popham (six kills, two blocks), Ethan Norris (27 assists, four aces) and Dan Sattler (16 digs, seven aces) were the leading men for the locals.

HB visits Londonderry on Tuesday.
