HS Roundup: Milford, HB boys lacrosse teams triumph

Wins haven’t come that often this season for teams like the Milford and Hollis Brookline boys lacrosse teams, but they came out on top on a rainy Thursday.

Lacrosse was the sport of the day as a lot of action again was postponed, including the Nashua North-Bishop Guertin baseball game at Holman Stadium. No makeup date has been announced as of yet.

Here’s a look at a lacrosse-filled Thursday:

BOYS LACROSSE

MILFORD 13, HILLSBORO-DEERING 7

The Spartans had the offense going to improve to 3-9 as Harris Jones had four goals and five assists while Logan Barnhill had five goals and two assists.

Andrew Herner (two goals, two assists), Hugh Palmer (two goals), Cade Bouchard (two assists) and Braydon Atwood (assist) helped out.

James Brew had 10 saves in the Milford goal while Justin Desmarais was brilliant on defense with four caused turnovers and 13 ground balls.

Milford hosts Hopkinton today.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 11, HANOVER 8

The Cavaliers, after a tough losing streak to start the season, have now won four of six to improve to 5-9.

Jake Roy led the way with three goals while Colin Corban (two goals, assist), Ethan Bender (two goals, two assists) and Connor Cook (two goals) were keys.

Also helping out were J.P. Torgersen (goal), Ben Dufoe (goal, two assists), Tommy Anderson (assist), and Justin Colby (assist, 17 of 22 faceoff wins).

Tucker Luter had nine saves for HB, which visits Windham on next Wednesday.

BISHOP GUERTIN 16, PINKERTON 4

The visiting Cards improved to 14-2 as Brady Dumont had a hat trick with an assist while Aiden Laurendeau, Connor Bouvier and Tim Kiely each had a pair of goals.

Bouvier also hd four assists whle Connor Guibord had a goal and three assists.

MERRIMACK 15, KEENE-MONADNOCK 4

The Tomahawks rolled to improve to 6-7, led by Matthew Todd’s four goals and three assists, plus four goals and an assist from Alex Vietry.

Jackson Forbes (two goals, assist), Shea Goodwin (one goal, two assists), Ryan Rezendes (goal), Kyle Dunn (goal, assist), Justin Sullivan (goal) and Cam Wheeler and Cam Duby (assist each) all contributed.

CONCORD 21, NASHUA NORTH 3

Jack Peters had two goals while Alec Jenkerson added a goal for the Titans, now 1-14.

Devyn Lavoie had five saves for North, which is at Souhegan on Monday.

GIRLS LACROSSE

BROMFIELD (MASS.) 14, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 6

The Cavaliers fell to 11-3 despite two Ireland Stark goals and single tallies from Cailean Roy, Abbie Ogren, Alyssa Hill and Bella Haytayan.

Sabrina Hill added two assists for HB,

while Hallie Bardani had 10 saves with defensive help from Daniella Allanach as the Cavs suffered three penalties.

HB visits John Stark on Monday.

PEMBROKE 15, ALVIRNE 5

Seniors Madison Nicolosi and Halle Miller had two goals for the Broncos, who also got a single from Elsa Ferullo.

Makayla Meehan played a strong game defensively. Alvirne

ST. THOMAS 21, MILFORD 10

The Saints pulled away from the Spartans, who fell to 3-9 and close out their season Monday hosting Derryfield.

BOYS TENNIS

ST. THOMAS 6, HOLLIS BROOKLNE 3

The shorthanded Cavaliers put up a good effort but fell short to fall to 2-11. HB winners included William Critchfield (8-2). Jason Babcock, who moved up from No. 5 to No. 3 singles (9-7) and the doubles team of Babcock/Critchfield (8-3).

HB wraps up the season today at Coe-Brown.
