HS Roundup: Rain, BG boys lax, North girls the big winners

If you were looking for a high school baseball or softball game, or a local tennis match for that matter on Monday, you likely didn’t find one thanks to the storms that hit most of the area. Most of the events have been rescheduled to today.

You could probably see a lacrosse game here and there, although not too many local teams that did play came out on top.

With an abundance of reschedulings, we have Tuesday’s updated schedule at the end of this report:

BOYS LACROSSE

BEDFORD 9, NASHUA SOUTH 8

The Panthers (10-4) couldn’t get the edge on the Bulldogs and lose their third straight game. Connor Rowsell (two assists) and Nate Campbell each came away with a hat trick. Griffin Johnson and Rhett Medling added a goal and an assist apiece. Goalie Ethan Johnson had 11 saves. South visits Merrimack on Wednesday.

LONDONDERRY 15, NASHUA NORTH 2

The Titans (1-13) were upended by the Lancers Monday afternoon. Austin Kaminaris (goal), Jack Peters (goal) and Devyn Lavoie (four saves) played well for the locals. North hosts Concord on Thursday.

BISHOP GUERTIN 20, SALEM 4

It was no contest at Stellos on Monday evening as the Cards jumped out to a 10-0 lead.

Among the BG goal scorers were Quinn Cepial with four,Tim Kiely (three) Caleb Yeung (two) Connor Guibord (two), Micah Dunsmoor (two) and one each by Jacob Caron, Michael Matuszewski,Brady Dumont,Sebastian Zeman, Carter Jozokos, Ryon Jolly and Riley Gwinn.

Now 13-1, BG hosts Acton-Boxborough (Mass) today at 4:15 p.m.

TIMBERLANE 17, ALVIRNE 4

The Broncos fell to 5-7 after a one-sided loss to Division II contender Timberlane (10-2). Alvirne is at Oyster River-Newmarket on Thursday.

GIRLS LACROSSE

NASHUA NORTH 12, ALVIRNE 8

The Titans (3-11) end their nine game losing streak after defeating the Broncos (1-10).Keira Sice led the way with five goals and a draw control while Summer St. Pierre added three goals plus an assist and a draw.

Others helping out for North: Kim Burgos (first goal of season, one draw), Molly Ducharme (goal, four assists, nine draws), and Sarah Weintraub (first goal of season, assist).

Alvirne was led by Halle Miller (five goals), Maddy Nicolosi (two goals), Elsa Ferulo (goal), Emma Fopiano (two assists), Alexa Kruger (20 saves), Jordan Sweeney and Abbi St. Laurent.

North hosts Londonderry on Tuesday and Alvirne visits Goffstown on Wednesday.

BEDFORD 18, NASHUA SOUTH 3

The Panthers (10-3) lose decisively to a stout Bulldogs squad. Keira Walsh had 12 saves in net and Ella Benzekri scored all three goals; while Kylie Dawe added an assist. Bailey Carroll, Soleil Dubois and Nevaeh Eppolitto played well defensively. South hosts Merrimack on Wednesday.

CAMPBELL 13, PELHAM 4

Bailey Bourque (six goals, assist) and Elayna Montenero (five goals, two assist) tallied seven points apiece as the Cougars (7-4) pounce on the Pythons. Brooke Stoncius added two goals and Kristina Castellano had an 85 percent draw control. Campbell visits first place Bow on Friday.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

SOUHEGAN 3, BISHOP GUERTIN 2

The Sabers (4-8) squeeze by the Cardinals (2-10) by the scores of 25-17, 25-18, 17-25, 25-27, 15-13. Trent Rider (27 digs, nine kills), Sam Dufoe (15 assists, five kills) and Sam Kouchalakos (11 digs, three kills) led the way for BG. Souhegan visits Keene on Friday and BG hosts Pinkerton on May 24.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3, MASCENIC 0

The Cavaliers (9-2) sweep Mascenic 26-24, 25-21, 25-16. Making contribution for the locals were John Sommer (10 kills, three aces), Noah Sinclair (three kills, two aces), Dan Sattler (11 digs) and Ben St. John (37 assists). HB visits Dover on Friday.
