HS Roundup: HB’s Mac Seain tosses no-hitter, Panthers, Hawks win first matches

The spring high school season has already brought some incredible performances, and Wednesday was no exception as Hollis Brookline baseball enjoyed a six inning no-no courtesy of Padraig Mac Seain.
Also, the Nashua South and Merrimack girls tennis teams picked up their first wins of the season.

BASEBALL
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 10, SANBORN 0
Padraig Mac Seain pitched a no hitter striking out 14 in six innings. MacSeain had a great day at the plate as well collecting a triple and three RBIs. Charlie Hale had two hits with two RBIs. HB (3-0) visits ConVal on Friday.
BISHOP GUERTIN 13,
ALVIRNE 1
The Cardinals (3-1) keep the Broncos (0-5) winless with a dominant win on the road. Evan Kaplo got the win on the mound allowing one unearned run on three hits and striking out 10 in six innings.
BG was led offensively by Luke Anderson (three hits, two runs, RBI), Dominic Monico (two hits, run, three RBIs) and Jake Boudreau (double, two RBIs). Jake Dufour led Alvirne with two hits, a run and a stolen base. BG hosts Salem on Thursday and Alvirne hosts Winnacunnet on Friday.
SOUHEGAN 19, LACONIA 3
The Sabers moved to 4-1 pounding out 15 hits on the windy road while taking advantage of four Laconia errors. Kyan Bagshaw had two doubles, Drew Burke a sac fly, Keegan Burke an RBI single, Nolan Colby an RBI double, and Drew Reagan had a two-run single just to name a few.
CAMPBELL 8,
PROSPECT MOUNTAIN 4
The Cougars take care of business on the road moving to 5-0 on the season. Campbell hosts Mascenic on Friday.
KENNETT 11, MILFORD 10
The Spartans (0-4) fought back after falling down by seven runs in the seventh inning, but the comeback fell just short. Landon Pierce (three RBIs), Colin Williams and Logan Howard all managed multiple hits. Pierce went 3-4 with 3 RBIs.
Jake Lammi took the loss on the mound for the Spartans, pitching four innings and striking out six batters. Lammi also had a hit and two runs. Milford visits ConVal on Thursday.
SOFTBALL
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 6,
SANBORN 2
Kailey Disco struck out nine batters in four innings and had a RBI and a single on offense to lead the Cavaliers (3-0). Emily Tebbetts had a double, Ally Johnson tallied a two RBI single and Emily Sartell added a single and a RBI.
Austyn Kump pitched three innings to close out the game with six strikeouts bringing her two season career total to 205 strikeouts. HB visits Oyster River on Thursday.
MERRIMACK 20, PORTSMOUTH 4
The Tomahawks (4-1) grab their third straight win off a 15 hit and 20 run performance. Grace Lawton (four hits, five RBIs, four runs) hit for a cycle and Morgan Goodspeed had three hits with three RBIs and three runs.
Hannah Stone added three hits and Ashlyn Cassetty scored two runs. Avery Hui pitched three innings for the win and Lily Dionne threw four innings of relief. Merrimack hosts Nashua North on Monday.
LACONIA 19, SOUHEGAN 10
Danielle Drobat had a two run homer while Liv Harnish went 3 for 4 at the plate while pitching well, along with Gabby Torres.
BOYS LACROSSE
ALVIRNE 11, MERRIMACK VALLEY 3
The Broncos (2-2) defense anchored the home win Wednesday afternoon. Leading the defensive unit was Ayden Kelly making many unbelievable saves between the pipes. Jared Graham netted six goals; Joey Ribeck had a hat trick with Cedric Beaulieu and Eric Allard each scoring a goal. Alvirne visits Bow on Friday.
WINDHAM 18, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 8
The Cavaliers (1-3) were defeated for the third straight game after a loss to the Jaguars. Jake Roy scored four goals and had two assists. Ethan Bender tallied three goals and an assist, Connor Cook added a goal with Tommy Anderson and Noah Taylor each adding an assist. Tucker Luter made 10 saves in the cage. HB hosts St. Thomas on Friday.
PELHAM 15, MILFORD 8
The Spartans (0-3) couldn’t escape the Pythons resulting in a loss Wednesday. Chuck Urda tallied a hat trick, Logan Barnhill and Cade Bouchard scored two goals apiece; while Jack Seals netted one goal and Harris Jones added one assist. James Brew made eight saves in net with Tyler Descoteaux and Luca DeRosa adding great defensive play. Milford visits Lebanon on Friday.
EXETER 18,SOUHEGAN 5
The Sabers (3-1) drop their first game of the season when the Blue Hawks came to town. Tony Garrant and Aiden Lawrence each scored two goals and Colin Duckless added one. JJ Bright played phenomenal winning just about every face-off. Souhegan visits Bishop Guertin on Friday.
CAMPBELL 13, GILFORD 7
The Cougars improved to 5-0, jumping out to a 12-1 lead and then holding on. Brendan Boschi had five goals and an assist while Jack Noury had three goals and two assists. John Newell (two goals, two assists) also helped out.
The Cougars host Hillsboro-Deering on Friday.
GIRLS LACROSSE
SOUHEGAN 14, EXETER 8
Natalie Heimarck (three groundballs), Elle Stevenson (two assists) and Lyla Kimball (four groundballs, assist) each recorded a hat trick in the Sabers (3-1) win. Allison Jordan (three groundballs), Emma Kennedy (goal, two groundballs), Riley Devine (goal, two groundballs), Maddie Lim (assist), Karina Kruchynska (goal, groundball), MacKenzie Cretsinger (two goals, two groundballs) and Sierra Kimball (three groundballs) played well for the locals. Souhegan hosts Bishop Guertin on Friday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 18, MERRIMACK 7
The Cavaliers move to 4-2 after taking a road win against the Tomahawks (0-4). Abbey Ogren (five goals, two assists), Alyssa Hill (three goals, five assists), Bella Haytayan (two goals, assist), Ireland Stark (two goals, assist), Sabrina Hill (two goals, assist), Cailean Roy (goal, assist), Juliette Ogren (goal, assist), Paige Mello (goal) and Maddison Caetano (goal) played great offensively. Hallie Bardani made six saves in net for the Cavs. HB visits Winnacunnet and Merrimack hosts Nashua North on Friday.
CAMPBELL 18, TRINITY 5
Elayna Montenero (eight goals, assist) collected nine points to lead the Cougars (3-1) past Trinity. Brooke Stoncius had three goals and four assists and Kristina Castellano added three goals and three assists. Campbell visits Hopkinton on Friday.

BISHOP GUERTIN 3, JOHN STARK 1
The Cardinals (1-4) pick up their first win by the scores of 25-22, 25-23, 23-25, 26-24. Trent Rider collected 14 kills, two aces and nine digs. Sam Kouchalakos tallied 10 kills, four aces and nine digs. BG visits Farmington
on May 5.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3, COE BROWN 0
The Cavaliers improved to 4-1 with a hard-fought 25-21,26-24, 25-21
sweep. Jake Laborde led the way with 15 kills, two aces. Aidan Norris had seven kills, 12 digs while Ethan Norris added 32 assists and four aces. Bradley Noble also had 11 digs.
The Cavs aren’t back in action until Monday, May 2 at Goffstown.
BOYS TENNIS
MERRIMACK 5, LONDONDERRY 4
The Tomahawks snapped a four-game skid with their second win (2-4) of the season, taking four singles and getting the clinching win at No. 3 doubles thanks to the tandem of Luke Desfosses and Max Townsend.
The pair each won their singles matches as well, along with Owen Minor at No. 2 and George Benoit at No. 4
The ‘Hawks are back in action Friday at home vs. Manchester Memorial.
NASHUA SOUTH 8, MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 1
The Panthers won their fourth straight, sweeping singles. Winners on the ladder included Abhinav Avvaru (8-1), Santiago Somorrostro (8-1), Ahkil Kamilla (8-4), Shreenath Moham (8-4), Mihir Garimella (8-4) and Ian Hall (8-1).
Avvaru/Kamilla won at No. 1 doubles 8-2 and Garimella/Hall at No. 3 8-1.
South is off until it hosts Dover on May 2.
BISHOP GUERTIN 6, ALVIRNE 3
The Cardinals snapped a two-game losing streak to improve to 5-2, letting the Meuse brothers get their three points while taking all the other matches.
Guertin won singles 3 through 6, with Ryan Wallat (8-0), Aditya Prasad (8-4), Sean Cairns (8-3) and Will Moynihan (8-2) all coming out on top.
Wallat/Prasad at No.2 (8-3) and Moynihan/Cairns (8-2) at No. 3 won while Alvirne’s Peyton and Ashton Meuse took No.1 8-0. Peyton Meuse won at No. 1 singles 8-3 and Ashton won at No. 2, 8-0.
Alvirne hosts Winnacunnet today while BG is off until it hosts Londonderry on May 2.
SALEM 5, NASHUA NORTH 4
Rodra Patel (8-2), Jason Pecorarro (8-1 and Jackson Nardone (8-6) all got singles wins for the Titans, but it wasn’t enough to prevent their third loss in a row after a 3-0 start (3-3) as they lost two of three doubles.
North’s only doubles win was by Patel/Nardone at No. 1, 8-2. The Titans are off until they host Concord on May 2.
GIRLS TENNIS
NASHUA SOUTH 9, MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 0
The Panthers go into their mid-season break with a good feeling after getting their first win of the season after six tough losses. Freshman Diya Bhatnager was the highlight, winning her first versity singles match.
The Panthers next visit Dover, but not until May 2.
SALEM 5, NASHUA NORTH 4
The Blue Devils took two of three doubles to hand the Titans the loss. Winners for North included No.1 Ashley Goh (8-1), No. 3 Mary Pappas (8-1), No. 4 Sanya Rane, 8-2.
Goh and Andrea Milani got North’s final win at No. 1 doubles, 8-6. The Titans (3-3) are next at Concord on May 2.
MERRIMACK 5, LONDONDERRY 4
The Tomahawks are another local that got their first win of the year (1-5), thanks to a clincher by the No. 1 doubles team of Shu Grosso and Emily Winefeld, 8-0.
Merrimack took four of six singles, with Grosso (8-0), Katie Costa (8-2), Jessica Harden (8-6) and and Jordan Zebuhr (8-3) all coming out on top.
Merrimack hosts Spaulding today.
SOUHEGAN 7, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 2
The Sabers continue to stay unbeaten (6-0), taking five of six singles and two of three doubles.
Saber winners were No. 1 Maddie Daniel (8-5), No. 2 Caroline Drum (8-2), Mishka Tower at No. 3 (8-3), Tylee Jancar at No. 4 (8-1 and No. 6 Tess Jancar (9-7). Daniel/Tower at No. 1 (8-6) and No. 2 Jancar/Drum (8-1) also won in doubles.
The Cavalier wins came from Mikayla Coolidge at No. 5, 8-4 and Katie Bauer/Emily Frederickson 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
HB (2-3) is at Kennett on May 2, while Souhegan is at Alvirne that day.
