Two Cavaliers still alive in New England wrestling
The Cavaliers are riding high at the New Englands.
Two Hollis Brookline wrestlers, Caden Bruseo and Troy Moscatelli, are still alive, reaching the quarterfinals at the New England High School Wrestling Championships in Providence, R.I. on Friday.
Bruseo at 113, beat Michael Boulanger of Milford, Mass. 4-3 in the round of 16 and will be in today’s quarterfinals vs. Miles Darling of Boxford.
Also, Moscatelli is in the quarterfinals at 152 pounds today. He defeated Lucas Coleman of Fairfield, Conn. 13-9 in the Round of 16 and will take on Spencer LeClair of Bowdoinham, Me.
At heavyweight, Milford High School’s Dan DeBernardo downed Middlebury’s Nick Sheldrick by fall but then lost to Braden Marceau of Melrose, Mass. in the Round of 16.
In a tough loss, one of the area’s top wrestlers, Nashua South’s Anthony Fernandez, fell by a 10-7 decision to Adam Schaeublin of St. John’s Prep Mass. at 132 pounds in the round of 16.
His Panther teammate, Colby Vancelette lost by fall to Patrick DesLauriers (Ashland, Mass.) in the round of 16 at 220 pounds.
At 106, Nashua North’s Matt Oliver fell to Anthony Touchette of Holliston, Mass. in the first round. Merrimack’s Evan Torres fell 4-0 at 120 in the Round of 32.
Hollis Brookline’s R.J. McAdams lost to Maximus Piel by pin in the round of 32 at 145.
