They’re moving onward and hopefully upward.

The Hollis Brookline girls basketball easily advanced to the quarterfinals of the Division II tournament with a win over ConVal, while the Spartans of Milford fell at Laconia to end their impressive comeback season.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a busier Wednesday, as the Merrimack and Hollis Brookline-Derryfield hockey teams were victorious, and Bishop Guertin picked up a big dual meet win over Divison II rival Merrimack. Meanwhile, the Campbell boys hoop team picked up it seventh straight win.

Elisabeth Stapelfeld had a game-high 20 points and 13 rebounds in her final home game to move the Cavs into the next round. Maggie Crooks had 10 points, Cheyenne Colbert added eight and Sabrina Hill had six.

HB will visit No. 3 Bow on Saturday in the quarterfinals.

NO. 5 LACONIA 61

NO. 12 MILFORD 35

The Spartans ran into a tough Laconia squad on their home court. Lulu Maguire had a team high 18 points and Bailey Johnson collected 16 for the locals. Milford ends the season at 9-10 and had qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2014-15 season.

The Cougars (3-10) drop a road contest to Kearsarge. Leading Campbell in scoring was Alyvia Ashe with nine points. Kristina Castellano and Abby Guerrette each chipped in six points of their own.

Campbell hosts St. Thomas on Friday.

MASCENIC 33

The Cougars (13-3) notch their seventh straight win as Jack Noury collected 21 points and 12 assists, Brody Mills tallied 16 points and seven rebounds, Colton Martel had 14 points and four steals, Dylan Rice had 14 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks and Jackson Kanaley had nine points and 11 rebounds. Campbell visits St. Thomas on Friday.

LONDONDERRY 8,

NASHUA NORTH-SOUHEGAN 3

North-Souhegan (3-11) dropped their second consecutive contest.

Will Dodge found the back of the net twice and Chase McBride tallied one goal.

North-Souhegan visits Goffstown on Sunday.

MERRIMACK 7,

TIMBERLANE 2

Eliot Medlock netted four goals and an assist in the Tomahawks’ (8-7) dominant win over the Owls. Vincenzo Giancola (one assist), Brayden Guagliumi (one assist) and Jackson Woods had one apiece. Conor Dunn added one assist for the locals.

Merrimack hosts Dover on February 16.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE-DERRYFIELD 5,

PEMBROKE-CAMPBELL 1

The warriors improve to 9-2 on the season as Jesse Gertz leads the way with two goals and two assists.

Paul Vachon added a goal and an assist while Kyle Sanborn had a goal. Luke Vella, Alex Gertz each had an assist and Jack Lager had a pair.

Cavin Quinn stops 25 of 26 shots in goal.

The Spartan-Cougars fell to 5-5. HBDS has a big one Saturday at Belmont-Gilford.

The Cardinals (10-2) were paced by Katherine Oskirko, who had two goals; while Gracie Menicci, Jill Scanlon and McKenzie Husson each had a goal and an assist. Riley Goldthwaite also had a goal and Zoe Gagne had an assist. Makenna Reekie had the shutout between the pipes.

BG hosts Oyster River-Portsmouth on Monday and Souhegan visits Exeter on Saturday.

The Cardinals captured a big local matching thanks to victories by Kaelem Wagner at 152 (6-0), William Murphy at 160 (pin), Matt Ha at 170 (9-7 decision), James Murphy at 182 (pin), Charlie Bellavance at 195 (7-6), Zach Connerty at 220 (pin), Rocco Geraci at 285 (pin, and Colin Foley at 113 (pin).

Merrimack’s wins came by Mitchell Krupp at 138 (pin), Anthony Almonte at 120 (pin), and Evan Torres at 126

NASHUA SOUTH 66,

MANCHESTER CENTRAL 0

Besides forfeits, the Panthers enjoyed wins by Ryan Salemi at 120 (pin), Connor Whitman at 152 (pin), Damien Perez at 169 (pin), and Edniel Reyes at 170 (pin).
