HS Roundup: Wheeler spins Cards; South skiers top North

And on the holiday, many rested.
It was a fairly light day on the local schedule on Monday, but there were still some noteworthy performances. The Bishop Guertin girls hoop team stayed unbeaten in controlling Merrimack, while Nashua North, still missing some key players, fell at Windham.
But the Battle of the Bridge began Monday with the Nashua South skiers topping Nashua North in a dual Giant Slalom format at Pat’s Peak; the North girls teams were winners but South does not have enough on the girls side to compete as a full team but it was scored top three vs. top three. The overall result: South boys win by 10, North girls by four, so South is the overall winner by six.
On the ice, Merrimack’s Eliot Medlock continued his torrid scoring pace. Meanwhile, Nashua North-Souhegan’s game with Windham was postponed, and no makeup date has been announced as of yet.
Here’s a quick look at a not-so-manic Monday:
GIRLS BASKETBALL

Catelyn Wheeler had 16 points to lead the Cards, now 10-1, while Brooke Paquette had 11 and Dara Ochieng and Liv Murray had 10 apiece.
Merrimack (6-6) was paced by Lexi Best, who had seven points and four steals, while Emma Valluzzi and Maia Frisella each had six points.
The Cards have a huge game Thursday at unbeaten, top-ranked Pinkerton on Thursday, while Merrimack, who has dropped its last three, is off until it hosts Londonderry next Monday.
WINDHAM 53,
NASHUA NORTH 31
The Titans’ offense picked up a bit but they still fell to 1-9. Aiden Walker had 11 points, while Grace Cardin and Olivia Mazerolle both had seven for the shorthanded Titans, who host Manchester Memorial tonight.

SOUTH BOYS TOP NORTH
The Panther boys won 391-381, led by Ben Adamonis’ first place finish with a combined run time of 42.46 seconds. Tim Crook (third, 44.24), Tyler McCabe (fourth, 45.25), Brand Hayden (fifth, 50.41) and Roan Herbert (51.26) paced the winners. North was led by Andrew Barry, who was second in 42.79, Braeden Welch (sixth, 50.90), Cam Scorpa (eight, 51.33) and Aiden Olufson (ninth, 53.26).
In the girls race, going by top three finishers, North won 294-290. South’s Brynn Tefft finished first overall in 44.33, while Olivia McGadden was fifth and Faith Tian eighth. North took places two, three and fourth with Brooke D’silva (48.19), Saya Rane (52.53) and Lillian Azevedo (52.68).

The Tomahawks erupted for six second period goals to win their second straight at Skate 3. Eliot Medlock led the way with a hat trick and two assists for a five-point day. Brayden Guagliumi had two goals and two assits, while Owen Miner had a goal and an assist and Kyle Dunn a goal and two assists.
Other goal scorers for the ‘Hawks (2-2) were Jackson Woods and Tyler Harris.
Other members of the assist column were Ryan De Beaucourt (two), Noah Kahn and Quinten Piccolo.
Hayden Ricard had a goal and an assist to lead the 0-4 Admirals. Sal Pace had a goal and Dylan Greenlaw had an assist. Merrimack takes on Nashua North-Souhegan on Wednesday at Conway Arena while the Admirals are at Nashua South-Pelham on Saturday, also at Conway.

The Cavaliers went cold in the fourth quarter, outscored 19-8. Andrew Eckman had 10 points while Johe Mahoney and Shane Marcum had eight each.

CAMBPELL DOES WELL IN TOURNEY
The Cougars got plenty of matches in the Daniel Gionet Memorial Tourney. Logan Allaire, Chris Corbett, Connor Raikey, Keegan Reynolds all picked up individual match wins in their respective divisions without actual titles.
