NASHUA – This winter, Brooke Paquette is one of the top players on a very good Bishop Guertin High School girls basketball team.
Two years from now, she’ll be playing for Stonehill College.
Paquette, just a junior, committed to the Easton, Mass. school on Saturday morning, Cards coach Brad Kreick announced after the player informed the many other schools pursuing her she had made her decision.
Paquette, the team’s starting point guard, leads the Cardinals in points, rebounds, assists, steals, deflections and charges taken.
“The kid is pretty unique,” Cards coach Brad Kreick said. “I’m incredibly proud of Brooke and all the work she’s done to earn the opportunity to play scholarship level women’s basketball.”
Kreick said Stonehill’s level of success in Division II makes the decision look even better.
“Coach (Trisha) Brown’s program is a perennial power in the NE10, one of the nation’s top conferences and provides the perfect blend of academic and athletic excellence Brooke and her family sought to pursue her goals.
“Coach Brown and (assistant) Coach (Kara) Kelly are getting a first class person who will make their already outstanding program even better. It’s a perfect fit and a great choice.”
Paquette earlier this week was named the Telegraph All-Area Girls Soccer Player of the Year, but said this past fall that basketball is her main sport and the one she will obviously play in college.
