South boys, BG girls enjoy Division I All-State soccer honors

To the victors go the honors.

The Division I champions in boys and girls soccer, Nashua High School South and Bishop Guertin had a combined eight players on the recently released New Hampshire Coaches Association All-State teams.

Nashua South had five All-Staters, including four First Teamers on the boys team: backs Fernando Figuero and Dan Miranda, midfielder Ethan Emata, and forward Jadiel Bomfim. Keeper Leo Kopicko was an Honorable Mention, and Panthers coach Tom Bellen was named Coach of the Year.

For Bishop Guertin, midfielders Hannah Lord and Brooke Paquette were honored as First Teamers. Martha Lord was a Second Team midfielder.

The area had one other local on the Girls First Team, Alvirne forward Paige Boudreau. Nashua North midfielder Ashley Goh, Merrimack defender Caila Scully and fellow Tomahawk forward Cara Sullivan, plus Nashua South forward Soraya Ross were all Honorable Mentions.

Other locals on the Boys Division I team: Alvirne keeper Mason Brooks was a Second Teamer along with midfielders Caua de Freitas of Nashua North and Merrimack’s Carson Papp.

Local boys Honorable Mentions included Merrimack defender Tobias Werner, Nashua North midfielder Preston Thompson and Bishop Guertin forward Rayaan Hameed.
