It was a mixed bag in local results on Saturday, as the area went 1-1 in football, saw a field hockey team ousted from the Division I tourney, and split two soccer games:

FOOTBALL

MILFORD 35,

HILLSBOR-DEERING-HOPKINTON 7

The Spartans had three 100-yard rushers in this romp as they improved to 6-1.

Logan Barnhill had 111 yards and a TD while Caden Zalenski rushed for 104 yards and two scores. And for good measure Chris Cotsifas had 109 yards and a TD. Harris Jones also had a score.

Milford wraps up the regular season Friday night with a big cross-conference contest with East leader unbeaten Timberlane (8-0). HDH fell to 2-5.

KEENE 42,

MERRIMACK 35

Scoring was not much of a problem for the Tomahawks at Keene. Stopping the Blackbirds was.

Keene (4-4) rushed for 384 yards, and five of their six TDs came on the ground, and Merrimack was also hurt by two second half turnovers.

Merrimack led at the half, 28-20, and got four TD passes from Kyle Crampton, who threw for 268 yards. Shea Goodwin had three of those TDs and 140 receiving yards.

Keene had a defensive stand in the red zone early in the half and then the ‘Hawks fumbled to set up the ‘Birds go-ahead score. Jarrod Rokes rushed for 208 yards and three TDs for Keene, which also got 156 yards and two touchdowns from Austin Morris.

Merrimack (3-5) wraps up its season at Salem next Friday.

FIELD HOCKEY

DIVISION I QUARTERFINALS

NO. WINNACUNNET 5,

BISHOP GUERTIN 0

The Warriors jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead in Hampton and never looked back, as the Cardinals season, which began at 7-0-1, ends at 11-5-1.

The Warriors, who edged BG 4-3 during the regular season, added two second half scores. Guertin’s offense was limited, as the Cards only had three penalty corners as the game hit its later stages. Makenna Reekie played well in goal for BG.

Winnacunnet now advances to play rival Exeter in the semis on Wedesday at Exeter, while Bedford and Windham will tangle in the other semi.

BOYS SOCCER

SOUHEGAN 2,

KENNETT 0

The visiting Sabers wrapped up the regular season at 6-10 with a possible tourney-clinching win as Coleman Paulini scored two goals, assisted by Calvin Jaques and Joe Bernasconi.

Ryan Lockitt had five saves in net. The Sabers now await the final tourney seedings but most likely with this one they grabbed the 12th and final seed in Division II.

That would likely send them to face Coe-Brown in the prelims, a team they fell to 2-1 during the regular season.

GIRLS SOCCER

HANOVER 5,

NASHUA SOUTH 0

The Panthers ended their regular season with a long trip and a tough loss to fall to 6-8-2. They’ll await their tournament seeding in the 15-team Division I postseason on Monday.
