HS Roundup: Titan volleyball wins again; Milford tops Sabers

Friday brought the end of the fall regular season for most high school teams, and now many will look forward to the start of next week’s tournaments. If you toss in the JV State Cross Country Meet, it was a busy final day.

Let’s take a look:

BOYS SOCCER

OYSTER RIVER 4,

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 1

The Cavs ended the season with a loss on the road Friday night. Ben Dufoe scored the lone goal with an assist from Danny Sattler. Alex James and Jackson Scherer made three saves and four saves respectively sharing goalie duties.

HB finishes with an 11-3-2 record clinching fourth place and a first round bye for the playoffs.

GIRLS SOCCER

SOUHEGAN 2,

KENNETT 1 (OT)

Elle Stevenson slammed in the game winner with kick in the top right corner. Ava Bawell scored one goal and Greta Caulton had an assist for the Sabers. Souhegan ends the season with a record of 6-9-1.

MANCHESTER CENTRAL 1,

NASHUA NORTH 0

The Titans lost a heartbreaker in the last five minutes due to a penalty kick after a handball call in the box. North ends its season at 3-13.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

NASHUA NORTH 3,

KEENE 1

The Titans finish the regular season with their eighth win in a row defeating Keene 25-19, 25-20, 23-25, 25-14. Alyssa Stanton totaled 15 kills, 10 digs and three aces and Mina Regnery led the defense with 28 digs.

Mardy Novak (19 assists, two aces, one kill) and Livi Mazerolle (eight kills, four digs, three aces) also played well for the Titans. North will go into the playoffs with a 10-8 record.

TIMBERLANE 3,

NASHUA SOUTH 0

The Panthers faltered for the third straight match 19-25, 27-29, 24-26. Nina Mahalingam (20 digs, four assists), Kayleen Malpass (seven kills, two digs, two aces) and Katrina Norton (seven kills) played well for the locals.

South finishes the regular season at 7-11.

BISHOP GUERTIN 3,

EXETER 1

The Cardinals ended the regular season beating the Blue Hawks 33-31, 25-13, 22-25, 25-10. Caroline Sullivan had a near perfect game racking up 14 assists, 14 digs, 10 kills and four aces.

Larisa Comolli had 11 kills, three digs and two aces, while Julia Foster added 13 assists, nine digs, six kills and four aces.

BG heads into next week’s Division I tournament with a 12-6 record.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3,

GOFFSTOWN 0

The Cavaliers head into the tournament with a 16-2 mark after their 25-19, 25-23, 25-15 sweep of the Grizzlies (8-10).

Meaghan Cutu had seven kills and four aces to lead the way while Lydia Daskalos added five kills. Emily Sartell (five digs, four aces) and Amy Ryherd (three digs, one ace) also helped out.

MILFORD 3,

SOUHEGAN 0

The Spartans win their ninth consecutive match (including eight straight sweeps) by the scores of 25-14, 25-8, 25-21. Madi Murphy tallied 18 assists and three aces, while Izzy Unsworth had 10 kills eight aces and two digs to lead the offense.

Peyton Schwab (three kills), Ali Fortin (eight aces), Kylier Allen (three kills), Alena Letendre (three kills, two aces, one dig) and Stella Crosby (four digs, two assists, one ace) led a helping hand in the win. Milford finishes the season at 13-3.

Caitlin Cooper and Lexi Blastos had two kills apiece for Souhegan, which ends its season at 3-15.

CAMPBELL 3,

HANOVER 0

The Cougars sweep Hanover 25-19, 25-19, 25-20. Alex Biron (15 aces, three kills, three aces), Morgan Bruner (13 assists, eight kills, one block) and Catherine Carignan (eight digs, seven kills, three aces) led the offensive unit.

Campbell heads into the postseason at 12-4.

BOYS & GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

JV STATE MEET

Bishop Guertin’s Carson Fischer ran a time of 17:20.75 to take home the win in the boy’s meet. Alex Girata (17:26.23) and Tom O’Neill (17:58.85) finished second and fourth respectively, for the Cardinals who also won the team event overall.

Cameron Patronick (18:07.72) placed sixth, Connor Theodore (18:24.69) was 10th and Michael Rzasa (18:32.54) finished 12th for Nashua South.

Alvirne’s Brent Dunning (19:21.28) finished 25th and Leo Bunkartas (19:22.49) was 26th. Merrimack had finishes from Kishan Sreenivasan (61st), Tyler Pencinger (62nd) and Brent Clark (63rd).

Nashua North’s top finishers were Edgar McIntosh (70th) and Jack Desjardins (75th).

The top local finisher in the girl’s race was Nashua South’s Brielle Ducharme (22:56.93) in 10th. South’s other finishers were Gabrielle O’Connor (23:01.56) in 13th and Abigail Thomas in 39th.

Bishop Guertin’s Shea Carpenter (23:20.65) finished in 21st, Amelia De La Vega was 54th and Cara Connolly was 55th.

Alvirne’s Adrianna Fedoce placed 62nd, Alayna Lavalley was 65th and Ava Biskaduros ended the day in 69th. Zippy Yellin was the top finisher for Merrimack in 81st.
