HS Roundup: Merrimack edges BG; Bronco girls tied again

Nashua North-South wasn’t the only all local soccer matchup on Thursday as the Bishop Guertin and Merrimack boys soccer teams tangled in a good one. Meanwhile, the Alvirne girls soccer team was fit to be tied — again. And North field hockey goalie Maddie Goulet stood on her head — again.

Plus, North, South and Merrimack got together on the golf course.

BOYS SOCCER

MERRIMACK 3, BISHOP GUERTIN 2

Carson Papp had two goals and an assist as the Tomahawks snapped a five-game skid to improve to 3-6.

Max Giles had the other goal for Merrimack, while Drew Flanders collected six saves. BG Down 2-1, Merrimack tied it on a corner kick with seven minutes to play and got the game-winner two minutes later on a free kick.

The Cards fell to 1-7, dropping their sixth straight. Guertin hosts Alvirne Tuesday while Merrimack hosts Hanover.

ALVIRNE 1,

SALEM 1

Jake Dufour scored for the Broncos, but Alvirne (2-4-1) gave up the tying goal off a corner kick scrum on a rebound header with just a few minutes left in regulation.

The Broncos host Bedford on Tuesday.

GIRLS SOCCER

ALVIRNE 1,

SALEM 1 (2 OT)

The Broncos got a goal by Paige Boudrea in the second half to tie the game, her 13th of the year, but neither team could settle it the rest of the way, including 20 minutes of overtime. It’s Alvirne’s (3-2-3) fifth overtime game of the year and third tie in a row.

Maddie Dluback played well at midfield for the Broncos, as did the defense led by Anna Rivera. Alvirne hosts Bishop Guertin next Tuesday.

BOW 6,

SOUHEGAN 3

Wednesday)

Greta Caulton, Bella Kraus and Nora Lin scored in the second half, in which the Sabers (3-4-1) played an even second half vs. the unbeaten (8-0) Falcons.

Bow led 3-0 at halftime. Souhegan hosts Manchester West Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

Maddie Goulet had another great game in goal for the Titans (0-8-1), but it wasn’t enough. North is at Keene on Monday.

Ava Gonzales led the Titans (211)to a win at Souhegan Woods with a 40. Jack Sullivan followed with a 41, while Jeff Maddock (42), Brandon Ouellette (43) and Owen Graham and Braedon Welch (45 apiece) helped out.

While Salem was second at 217, the Panthers took third at 233 led by 46’s from Stephen Robbie, Joe Lizzie and Emma Kobs. Robby Lizzie had a 47 and Tyler Girourd 48.

For Merrimack (237), Connor Patch had a 42, followed by Jackson Woods (44) and Matt Licata (48).

HOLLIS BROOKLINE THIRD

HB (219) finished just behind Trinity (218), while both were beaten by Winnacunnet (199) at Overlook. The Cavs top five scorers Cavan Quinne, Lauren Mauch, Reid Mitchell, Braeden O’Connor and Martin Bergeron combined for 17 pars but 19 bogies.
