HS Roundup: Panthers stay unbeaten; North girls win first

They had a tough three game boys soccer stretch against fellow contenders Manchester Central, Hanover, and then on Thursday, Windham, and the Nashua High School South went a perfect 3-0, winning all three games by a goal.

Of course it doesn’t get easier, as the Panthers have local rivals Alvirne and Nashua North next week.

Speaking of North, the Titans girls soccer team picked up their first win of the season, and the North boys soccer team also won its second straight game, its second straight shutout. Here’s what happened on a busy Thursday:

BOYS SOCCER

NASHUA SOUTH 4,

WINDHAM 3

The Panthers (7-0) winning ways continued as Joona Hantula (two goals) netted the game winner with less than five minutes to play. Jadiel Bonfim and Ethan Emata scored one goal each.

South hosts Alvirne on Tuesday.

NASHUA NORTH 3,

KEENE 0

Gaurav Maharjan, Alec Jenkerson and Caua de Freitas found the back of the net to move the Titans to 2-1. Simon Costa recorded his second straight shutout. North visits Windham on Saturday.

SALEM 3,

BISHOP GUERTIN 2

The Cardinals (1-5) lose their fourth straight game after being up 2-0 at halftime. BG visits Exeter on Tuesday.

ALVIRNE 4,

PINKERTON 2

Jack Ashworth tallied a hat trick in the Broncos (2-3) road win over the Astros. Nathan Chava scored his first goal of the year.

Alvirne visits Nashua South on Tuesday.

DOVER 6,

MERRIMACK 0

The Tomahawks (2-5) falter for the fifth straight game with a shutout loss. Drew Flanders and Matt Schmidt made eight and three saves respectively. Merrimack visits Bishop Guertin on September 23.

GIRLS SOCCER

NASHUA NORTH 5,

KEENE 0

The Titans (1-3) tasted victory for the first time this season, and in a decisive manner. Brooke xxxx netted two goals, while single tallies came from Mary Pappas, Aiyana Zubhuza and Lilly Baker-Olliviera.

MERRIMACK 2,

DOVER 1

Kailey Dillon and Alexis Best scored for the Tomahawks (4-3) in their Thursday win. Jill Dorf and Kylie Flynn dished out assists for the locals. Merrimack hosts Bishop Guertin on September 24.

ALVIRNE 2,

PINKERTON 2

Paige Boudreau scored both goals in the Broncos (3-2-1) tie against the Astros. Halle Miller and Mia Francisco dished out on assist apiece. Lyla Davis and Maddie Bertrand played well in the midfield.

Alvirne hosts Nashua South on Tuesday.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

PINKERTON 3,

NASHUA SOUTH 0

The Panthers (0-4) fell to the Astros 14-25, 12-25, 19-25. Malia Martel (10 assists, six digs), Katie Garland (eight assists, eight digs, five kills) and Nina Mahalingam (12 digs, two assists, two kills) played well in the contest. South hosts Exeter on Friday.

COE-BROWN 3,

MILFORD 1

The Spartans (2-2) fell by the scores of 16-25, 21-25, 25-22, 17-25. Izzy Unsworth recorded 17 digs and 12 kills, Alena Letendre had six kills, Stella Crosby added 25 digs and three aces and Ali Fortin had two aces.

Milford visits Plymouth on Monday.

SOMERSWORTH 3,

SOUHEGAN 1

The Sabers lost their fourth straight contest as they remain winless on the season. Julia Colantuoni served for 10 points, Caitlin Cooper served eight points and had three kills and Ari Jeanbaptist had three kills.

Souhegan hosts Fall Mountain on Monday.

CAMPBELL 3,

PROSPECT MOUNTAIN 0

The Cougars (5-0) record another sweep beating Prospect Mountain 25-19, 25-15, 25-23. Morgan Bruner (21 assists, seven kills two aces), Catherine Carignan (11 kills, five aces), Elayna Montenero (14 digs, two aces) and Kiana Henderson (six kills, three aces) contributed in the win.

Campbell has yet to lose a set this season, and hosts ConVal on Monday.

The Cardinals came in third and the Titans finished last in a shootout at the Nashua Country Club. Connor Bouvier (37), Max Riordan (37) and Joe Dekarki (43) were the top scorers for BG. Eva Gonzales (38), Jack Sullivan (43) and Owen Graham (44) topped the list for North.

The Broncos and the Spartans were no match for Portsmouth at Whip poor Will. Alvirne’s Noah LeClair shot a 38 to lead the team.

Alex Blais, Ashton Meuse and Ethan Doran contributed in the Broncos lowest score of the year.

The Tomahawks come in third in their match on Thursday. Connor Patch shot a 42, while Matthew Licata and Jackson Woods both shot a 51.
