HS Roundup: BG runners top locals; North gets first win

The Bishop Guertin High School boys and girls cross country teams put their claim in as tops in the area Tuesday as they both emerged with wins in an all local meet with host Nashua South, Nashua North, and Alvirne.
But Tuesday was also a big day for the North boys soccer team, as the Titans picked up their first win of the season at Bedford. And the Hollis Brookline boys stayed unbeaten, but had to work a little extra to do it.

BOYS & GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
BG BOYS TOP ALVIRNE,
NASHUA NORTH AND SOUTH
The BG boys (23 points) topped the all-local field of Alvirne (second, 54), Nashua South (73) and Nashua North (94) at Mines Falls in Nashua. The Cards dominated taking eight of the top 10 places.
Alvirne’s John Crawford (17:12) took the boys win, while teammates Nick Marcotte (17:33) finished fourth and AJ Prescotte (18:07) was 11th.
BG’s Nate Fondakowski (17:15) was the runner up finisher, while Sean O’Keefe (17:20) was third and Joshua Rivers (17:43) was fifth as the Cards showed their depth.
Nashua South’s Clifford Teixeira (18:37), Evan Lafleur (18:37) and Daniel Byrne (18:38) took 12th, 13th and 14th respectively. Finishing in 15th, 16th and 17th was Nashua North’s Matthew Robert (18:38), Andrew Laflamme (18:39) and D’Sean Coffie (18:39).

The Cards cruised in the girls race as well with 23 points, while Nashua North was second (45), South third (67) and Alvirne fourth (96).
North’s Dantia Braccio took home the win with a time of 19:38. Laura White (20:28) placed fourth and Christina Jurris (21:19) was eighth for the Titans. BG’s MaryKate Finn (20:11) was the runner up, Fiona Doherty (20:15) finished third and Madeleine Moynihan (20:57) was fifth.
Meghan Conway (21:42) finished ninth for South with Jenna Lecklider (21:47) in 10th and Katie Perry (23:11) in 15th. Alvirne’s Annabelle Simpson (21:57) finished the day in 12th, Brynna Anderson (22:54) was 13th and Jennifer Herbert (25:05) was 23rd.

Gaurav Maharjan scored the lone goal of the contestm assisted by Arthur Santos, to give the Titans (1-1) the win. Chino Ramos, Spencer Dunn, Amos Karnuah and Sam Paintsil played solid defense.
North hosts Keene on Thursday.
PORTSMOUTH 4,
BISHOP GUERTIN 3
The Cardinals (1-4) dropped their third in a row with a loss to the Clippers. Grevaan Singh scored two goals and Aiden Laurendeau made eight saves.
BG visits Salem on Thursday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 2,
PEMBROKE 1 (OT)
John Kotelly netted the game winning goal on an assist from Jesse Gertz to keep the Cavs unbeaten at 6-0.
John Sommers made eight saves in net and Tomas Anderson had a stand out game on defense. HB (6-0) visits John Stark on Saturday.
LONDONDERRY 3,
MERRIMACK 1
The Tomahawks faltered for the fourth straight game and dropping their record to 2-4. Kyle Egan scored the lone goal and Drew Flanders made 15 saves. Merrimack visits Dover on Thursday.
ALVIRNE 2,
KEENE 0
The Broncos (1-3) pick up their first win of the season with a shutout. Derek Boulanger and Jack Ashworth netted goals for the locals.
Alvirne visits Pinkerton on Thursday

The Spartans continue their tear as they improve to 5-0. Ryon Constable and Noah Matthews scored for Milford.
Milford visits Kingswood on Saturday.

Ryan Fillion found the back of the net in the 70th minute in what would be the game winning goal. Alan Clay scored on a Ryan Tupaj assist in the 31st minute. Ryan Lockitt made seven saves in net.
Souhegan (3-2) travels to Pembroke on Friday

Paige Boudreau was unstoppable, scoring four goals with two assists in the Broncos (3-1) win.
Other goal scorers were Maddie Bertrand, Hannah Sellingham and Bri Peters. Lyla Davis added two assists and Alyssa Scharn had a shutout in her first game in goal.
Alvirne hosts Pinkerton on Thursday.

The Cavaliers drop to 3-2 after a loss at home. HB had second half woes after trailing at halftime 2-1. Rachel Bracket was the lone Cav to find the back of the net. Mckenna Maguire, Ellie Snoke, Lily Bouchard, Keira King and Zoe Kreick played well for the locals.
HB visits John Stark on Saturday.

MERRIMACK 2
The Tomahawks drop to an even 3-3 record with their road loss to the Lancers. Cara Sullivan netted both of Merrimack’s goals with Brooke Basoli and Alexis Best adding assists. Molly Perkins made five saves in net.
Merrimack hosts Dover on Thursday.

The host Spartans improved to 3-1-2 with goals by Marissa Sage, Alina St. George, Kate Hansen, Emily Lloyd and Lulu Maguire. Kaye Hansen and Sarah Sawyer played well defensively.

The Generals worked the wings and over the top to get one first-half goal and added another before halftime on a penalty kick and the Sabers (3-2) couldn’t recover despite some last chances.

The Cavs took second in their match at Amherst Country Club. HB’s Cavan Quinn shot a 41 finishing second overall.
Others playing well for HB were Reid Mitchell, Charlie Hale, Martin Bergeron and Bradley Noble. They combined for one eagle, four birdies, 11 pars and 17 bogies.
