HS Roundup: Cards, Titans girls lax teams get soggy wins

Who says high school teams don’t play in the rain?

Most local teams opted not to on Wednesday, but a few did brave the wet weather, including the Bishop Guertin, Nashua North, and Alvirne girls lacrosse teams as well as the North softball team.

Here are the soggy details:

GIRLS LACROSSE

BISHOP GUERTIN 11,

PINKERTON 5

Rylee Bouvier had three goals and two assists while Mimi Piercy had two and two as the visiting Cardinals improved to 7-0.

The Astros gave them a tougher time than the 17-5 game a couple weeks ago at Stellos, as Guertin was up just 6-3 at the half.

Others in the scoring for BG included Maddy Keating (two goals, assist), Nat Coutu (two goals, assist), Steph Reap (two assists) and Lauren Redfern, Tess Prunier and Lindsay Hult (goal each).

Makenna Reekie had five saves in goal for BG, which hosts Bedford in a key Division I showdown on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Stellos. The Bulldogs go into today’s game at Merrimack as the only other Division I unbeaten (8-0).

NASHUA NORTH 19,

ALVIRNE 7

The Titans were able to persevere in the damp conditions at Stellos Stadium as Sarah Weintraub and Carlee Sweeney scored their first of the season, and Olivia Watt chipped in with three goals. Kiley O’Brien was dominant on draw control.

The Broncos got three goals and an assist from Halle Miller, two goals and an assist by Elsa Ferullo, while Hailey Rhamalinho and Madison Nicolosi each had a goal. Zaira O’Leary had 17 saves in goal for the the 1-3 Broncos, who host Concord Christian on Friday.

North, now 7-1, hosts Pinkerton today at 5 p.m. at Stellos.

SOFTBALL

PINKERTON 21,

NASHUA NORTH 0

The Titans struggled again offensively in the damp weather, falling to 1-8 on the season while the Astros improved to 7-1.

North had singles by Cailin Carbonneau, Rachel Riddell and Tylea Wong.

Defensively, North struggled Mackenzie Tanner completed a double play when she snagged a line drive in the gap and tossed it over to third for the force out.

The Titans, who played three games in three days, get a much-needed break until they host Londonderry on Monday.
