HS Roundup: Milford nine unbeaten, Sabers bounce back

Watch out for the Milford High School baseball team, which is unbeaten after a close, well-played win over Manchester West on Tuesday.

It was a tough diamond day for Nashua North and South, and in lacrosse the Hollis Brookline boys remained unbeaten while the Souhegan girls got a bounce-back win.

A busy day, and here are the details:

BASEBALL

MILFORD 2,

MANCHESTER WEST 1

Milford stayed unbeaten (4-0), scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth to win a well played game, keyed by Nolan Ingemi’s complete game four-hitter on the mound. He struck out seven, walking just one.

Trice Cote had three hits and an RBI to lead the Spartan offense, while Ingemi helped his own cause with a double and an RBI. Damian Philbrick also had a double.

LONDONDERRY 8,

NASHUA SOUTH 2

The Panthers fell to 2-6 despite a complete game effort from pitcher Nick Shaw. Dean Adams had an RBI and River Hart a run scored for the South, which hosts Manchester Central on Thursday at Holman Stadium.

TIMBERLANE 9,

NASHUA NORTH 1

It’s been a tough week for the Titans, who lost their second straight to fall to 4-5 while the Owls got their first win of the season (1-6)

North is slated to host Pinkerton today at 4 p.m., weather permitting.

BOYS LACROSSE

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 15,

MANCHESTER MEMORIAL/CENTRAL 2

The Cavaliers got five goals by Jake Roy (with an assist), and Joe O’Reilly added a hat trick with an assist as they improved to 6-0.

Hunter Hudzik (two goals, assist), Ethan Bender (two goals, two assists), Tommy Anderson (two goals, one assist), and Ben Dufoe (goal, two assists) all contributed as well. Scott Walsh had six saves in the HB goal.

PINKERTON 18,

NASHUA NORTH 2

Trent Gerlowski had both Titan goals, while Jack Peters scooped up six ground balls and Devyn Lavoie had eight saves in the North goal.

CONVAL 8,

MILFORD 4

The Spartans led 4-2 at halftime but couldn’t hold on, tiring in the second half with only 14 players making the trip as they fell to 0-3.

Logan Barnhill had two goals while Charlie Urda (goal, two assists), Harris Jones (goal) and Corey Girouard and Zack Greer (assist each)

Drew Hodges had 10 saves in goal for Milford, which hosts ConVal on Thursday.

GIRLS LACROSSE

SOUHEGAN 18,

CONCORD 1

The Sabers (5-4) rolled behind Cali Bishop’s four goals, assist, two draw controls, plus Elle Stevenson’s four goals, assist and one draw control.

Plenty of other Sabers got into the act: Margot Manz (goal, three draws), Lyla Kimball (two goals, two draws), Emma Kennedy (two asists), Abby Hawkes and Delaney Bishop (two goals each), Nicole O’Rourke (one draw, one assist) and Kenzie Cretsinger (two goals, assist and two draw controls).

SOFTBALL

TIMBERLANE 11,

NASHUA NORTH 2

It was a slow day with the bats for the Titans (1-7), who did get two RBIs on a Paige Stapledon single while Calin Carbonneau reached twice (single, walk).

Stapledon pitched well, giving up five earned runs, generating six fly outs while striking out two. North’s Samantha Small had some key catches in left while Aaralyn Lopez threw a runner out at first from right field for the second straight game.

CONVAL 3,

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 2

(Nine innings)

The Cavaliers dropped a tough one despite Austyn Krump’s nine innings pitched with 15 strikeouts.

Abigail Guay, Kaile Disco, Emily Sartell (run), Savannah Duquette, Kate Peters and Katrina Lee all had hits hile Lee and Ally Johnson (run) had RBIs. Disco and Sartell each had a stolen base.

BOYS TENNIS

NASHUA SOUTH 6,

BISHOP GUERTIN 3

The Panthers took five of six singles to improve to 5-1, with Santiago Domorrostro (8-5), Akhil Kammila (8-2), Neil Kachappily (8-6), Praneet Nadella (8-5) and Ben Lambrght (8-1) coming out on top. The No. 3 doubles team of Lambright/Nadella also won 9-8 (7-4 tiebreaker).

For the Cards, Tommy Lubin at No. 2 got their only singles win. The doubles teams of Pranav Marwha/Dean Liakos (8-3) and Lubin/Bombara (8-5).

CONVAL 6,

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3

Bryson Giersch and Rory Klauber picked up singles wins for the Cavs while Klauber teamed with Dan Kennedy for a win at No. 2 doubles.

Will Pesiridis played a tight match at No. 1 singles, bowing just 8-6.

HB hosts ConVal on Friday.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 3,

GOFFTSOWN 1

The Cards were able to even their record at 4-4 with a big fourth set win, 25-20. They took the first two sets, 28-26 and 25- 19 before dropping the third, 25-12.

Trent Rider had nine kills while Erik Wizboski added 10 kills, three blocks and 17 assists. D.J. Omogrosso also had another good match with 14 kills, four aces and four blocks.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3,

KEENE 0

The Cavaliers evened their record at 2-2 with a 25-20, 25-23, 25-19 sweep at Keene.

Max Marshall had a whopping 32 assists to go with his four aces, while Jack Delaney (three kills, two blocks), John Sommer (three aces, two kills) and Spencer Murray (eight digs) also contributed while Matt Kelley had solid blocking.

HB hosts Keene (2-1) on Thursday.

GIRLS TRACK

MERRIMACK 76,

KEENE 59

Alexis Best was certainly best for the Tomahawks with three wins (200, 300 hurdles, long jump). Other winners for the Tomahawks included Sydney Ogbunamiri in the 100, , Adele Alexander (1600 and 3200), Kailey Dillon (100 hurdles, triple jump), Mary Vance in the high jump, Mia Getchell (shot) and Ella Fong (javelin).

The ‘Hawks 4×100 relay team also won.

BOYS TRACK

KEENE 104,

MERRIMACK 39

Sam Epstein (pole vault) and Owen Sadowski (javelin) got wins for the Tomahawks.
