Wednesday was a day of fun, despite some drama for some local high school hockey teams.

The Bishop Guertin and Merrimack boys teams pulled out wins late – Guertin’s came in overtime – while the Souhegan girls picked up their first win of the season in their final regular season game.

Here’s a look:

BOYS HOCKEY

BISHOP GUERTIN 6,

EXETER 5 (OT)

Quinn Cepiel was the hero for Guertin, with his second goal of the game coming 1:35 into sudden death overtime at the Rinks of Exeter.

That gives the Cards a record of 10-2 for the regular season, their only losses coming to Salem. Guertin also got two goals from Sam Cronin, plus goals by Mike Kiely and Derek Amaral.

Sean Kelley and Amaral also had two assists, while Ryan Kelley and Brian Jenkins also had assists. John Casey had 19 saves for BG, which now awaits the pairings and the start of next week’s Division I tournament.

MERRIMACK 2,

BOW 1

Evan Roy scored, unassisted, with 3:13 left to give the Tomahawks a 6-4 record to end the regular season, snapping a two-game losing streak.

Brayden Guagliumi scored a second period goal, assisted by Eliot Medlock, while Ben Hardy played well in goal for the Tomahawks, who now await the start of next week’s Division II tournament.

GIRLS HOCKEY

SOUHEGAN 4,

CONVAL 0

The Sabers, with two goals by Abby Hawkes, finally had smiles on their faces with their first win to end their brief regular season at 1-7.

Allie McCall and Ella Barrett also scored for Souhegan, which got five saves from Taryn Quinlan.

The Sabers will await the pairings and the start of next week’s tourney.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

PINKERTON 46,
