Their reign is over, for now.

It was a Bedford sweep in the NHIAA Division I boys and girls swimming championships, ending a three-year title streak for the Bishop Guertin High School boys, who took second in the meet as did the Cardinal girls late Saturday at the Salem Workout Club.

The Bulldogs won the boys with 158, with BG at 134. Nashua North was ninth (36), Alvirne 10th (32), Merrimack 13th (12) and Nashua South 14th (9).

In the Divison II event on Sunday, also at the SWC, the Hollis Brookline girls and Souhegan boys were the local story The Cavaliers finishing second with 109 points, just 10 points behind state champion Hanover (119) but eight points ahead of third place Windham (101).

The Saber boys (109) took third, behind first place Oyster River (133) and second place Hanover (114), but ahead of fourth place Windham (73).
