Saturday roundup: Guertin girls hockey team romps, 8-2
The Bishop Guertin High School girls hockey team made a statement that they will be a team to be reckoned with this winter with a season-opening 8-2 win over Concord Saturday night at Everett Arena.
Jenna Lynch (with two assists) Julie McLaughlin (one assist) and Tessa Wilkie had two goals apiece for the Cards, who got single scores from Lindsay Hult and Kathryn Simpson.
Guertin was trailing 2-1 late in the first period, but Simpson scored on a pass from Husson with 16.7 seconds left to tie the game.
Then in the second, Hult from McLaughlin gave the Cards a 3-2 lead at 2:10 of the second and Guertin never looked back. The Cards led 5-2 after two.
Sarah King played well in goal for BG.

The Cavs took the Baker round with wins of 129-119 and 146-111.
Bowling well for the Cavs were Kail Arthur (154, 141), Cayden Plummer (155, 195), Zach Sommer (133, 203) in the standard round, and Jarrett Tousignant (163, 201) and Dan Aulbach (243, 183).
Leading the way for the Tomahawks were Mason Anketell with a 313 total, a 156 average; Chase Morin (351, 176 average) and Tyler Barnard (260, 130 average).

The Grizzlies won the last five matches, from 170 pounds to 220, to offset some early forfeits.
Merrimack winners included Griffin Livingstone by pin at 138, Joey Leblanc by pin at 145, and Anson Dewar by pin at 160.
Tomahawk forfeit winners were Anthony Almonte (106), Molly Brody (113) and Emily Angelo (120).
