It was a tough season opener for two local high school basketball teams on Tuesday night.

The Cougars were without point guard Riley Gamage, but got 10 and nine points respectively from senior forwards Karleigh Schultz and Tori Allen.

Alyvia Ashe added eight points and Maddie Davis five for Campbell, which will host Pelham on Thursday.

As for the Warriors, they fell behind 17-6 after one quarter and could never recover, trailing 34-12 at the half and 51-22 after three. Kyler Tremblay played well for WLC, which now visits Conant on Friday.
