Telegraph photo by TOM KING Nashua North's Curtis Harris-Lopez announced Monday night he has committed to the College of Holy Cross for football.

NASHUA – The Big Decision has been made, five days before the Big Game.

Nashua High School North quarterback Curtis Harris-Lopez, called “a generational player” by many coaches around the area, has committed to the College of Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass.

He made his announcement early Monday evening on social media, and now will focus on the biggest game of his high school career – Saturday’s 1 p.m. Division I championship game vs. fellow unbeaten Goffstown High School at Bedford’s Bulldog Stadium.

Harris-Lopez, who has been a standout running back, quarterback and defensive back for the Titans, had seven other offers. He chose Holy Cross over the University of New Hampshire, Dartmouth, Sacred Heart, Central Connecticut, Merrimack and Fordham.

Harris-Lopez has 908 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns on 104 carries this year.

He rushed for 202 of those with four TDs in Saturday’s 33-28 semifinal win over Salem.

“First I want to thank my family for believing in me and always being there for me through the thick and thin,” he said in a post on Twitter. “I want to shout out my teammates and coaches over the years that have always had my back and stood by me through wins and losses. I am forever grateful for all the support and love that I’ve received over the years.

“With that being said..I am very excited to announce that I will be furthering my academics and athletics at College of the Holy Cross.”

The announcement may have come a bit earlier than expected, as Harris-Lopez was talking during the season as if he would wait until after the season was over, likely in early December.

But the offer from Holy Cross, which he said had everything he wanted academically – he will be studying sports management – as well as with regard to football was apparently too good to wait any longer.
