Panther boys, BG girls rule the day in soccer at Stellos

The Nashua High School South boys soccer team and Bishop Guertin girls soccer teams wrapped up superb regular seasons on Saturday with wins at Stellos Stadium, and now things head to tourney play beginning Monday.

The Panther boys finished 8-1, while the BG girls were 9-0.

Here’s Saturday’s results:

BOYS SOCCER

NASHUA SOUTH 7,

BISHOP GUERTIN 1

Manny Orozco Alvarez and Jadiel Bonfim each had two goals for the Panthers, who also got single tallies by

Rory Olsen, Joona Hantula, and Elliot Mason.

Rayann Hameed scored for the Cards, who will face the winner of Monday’s North-South play-in game on Wednesday.

The Panthers also got strong defensive performances by Daniel Miranda and Fernando Figueroa.

CAMPBELL 4,

PELHAM 2

The Cougars finished the regular season in fine fashion at 5-2-1, and will head to Trinity on Monday at 6 p.m. via the blind draw for a Division III play-in.

Wyatt Hemming, Justin Edmonds, Connor Donaghey and Andrew Durfee all scored for the Cougars.

GIRLS SOCCER

BISHOP GUERTIN 3,

NASHUA SOUTH 0

The Cards got goals from Hannah Lord, Liv Muerette and Katie Boudreau. Assists went to Emily Neily, Alyson Gurray and Martha Lord.

BG heads to Merrimack for a play-in game on Tuesday, while South is at Alvirne in a prelim on Thursday.

WILTON-LYNDEBOROUGH 8,

MONADNOCK 4

Elisabeth Jacob continued her dominance scoring four goals for the Warriors (6-4). Adri Bausha netted two goals, Sophia Sistachs and Brooke Lane added one goal apiece.

Avery Krug, Sistachs and Sam Boette added assists to the winning effort. WLC hosts Newport on Tuesday for the first playoff game.

PELHAM 4,

CAMPBELL 0

The Cougars finished out the regular season with a tough shutout loss on Saturday. Campbell ends the season at 3-5.

Girls Volleyball

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3,

MERRIMACK 0

The Cavaliers (7-2) beat out the Tomahawks (2-7) 25-12, 25-17, 25-14. Meghan Coutu (nine kills), Hanna Close (seven kills) and Angelina Leonard (21 assists) controlled the offense for HB. Jess Cooper (10 digs) and Annette Schlunk (three digs) played well on the defensive side. The two teams will meet again on Tuesday as they start the post season.

CROSS COUNTRY

BG TOPS NASHUA SOUTH

Bishop Guertin took down wins in both races over Nashua South at Mine Falls. The Cardinal boys won their race 16-43, with William Thompson (18:54.82) taking down the victory. Keith O’Donnel (19:10.80) and Zack Maybury (19:21.55) finished second and third respectively. Derek Griebel (19:25.16) finished in fourth and Garret Griego (19:30.07) finished sixth.

Aidan Stevens (19:27.23) was the best finishing Panther in fifth, followed by Shea Ninteau (seventh, 19:33.53) and Evan Lafleur (ninth, 19:54.65).

In the girls races, BG won a tight matchup 28-29. Fiona Doherty ran a 19:31.79 to pull off the win for the Cardinals. Marykate Finn was runner up (19:37.89), Madelei Moynihan placed sixth (20:46.91), Rose Goyette was seventh (21:47.92) and Mackenzie Husson was 12th (23:14.13).

Nadia Zhecheva was the highest finishing Panther in third (20:27.76). Meghan Conway was fourth (20:28.40) and Jenna Lecklider placed fifth (20:38.52) for South.

NORTH, LONDONDERRY SPLIT

Londonderry took the win in the boys race 17-41, while Nashua North picked up the win for the girls at Londonderry Ryan Young was the winner finishing with a time of 17:18.69. Matthew Griffin (17:18.98) was second, Sean Clegg (18:00.51) was third, Ryan Fortin (18:01.18) finished fourth and Will Plante (18:14.62) was seventh.

James Reel (18:09.65) was the best Titan finisher in fifth, Matthew Robert (18:09.96) was sixth, Nickolas Drew (18:35.59) placed ninth and D’Sean Coffie (18:44.20) was 10th.

The Titan girls team won 22-34. Dantia Braccio (20:18.81) bested the field for the win. Annika Hayden (21:39.30) was third, Caroline Dobens (22:13.17) was fifth, Erin Sung (22:27.09) was sixth and Mariana Santos (22:35.40) placed seventh.

Grace McDonough (21:18.10) placed second for the Lancers while Katie Kraft (21:53.08) was fourth.
