The Merrimack and Souhegan High School football teams enjoyed high-scoring wins on Friday night, the Sabers finishing the regular season 5-0 and the Tomahawks rebounding from a tough loss to finish at 2-1.

They’ll both await the playoff seedings, but meanwhile, there were some changes to today’s local sports schedule.

First, all Milford High School sporting events with Hollis Brookline were cancelled for today, no reasons given with the announcements on both schools’ websites.

That includes today’s scheduled 2 p.m. HB-Milford football game in Hollis, and an HB-Milford boy-girls soccer doubleheader that was slated to start in Milford at 3 p.m. was cancelled.

HB’s girls volleyball home game with Merrimack is on as scheduled.

A statement on the Milford High School website did say that the Spartans Division II tournament games next week – that would involve girls volleyball and both soccers – “are expected to be played.”

Also today, there will be no Bishop Guertin-Keene field hockey quarterfinal/regional final game.

Guertin is the higher seed and scheduled host, but Keene school officials won’t allow the Blackbirds to travel to Nashua, so Keene had to drop out of the tourney.

Guertin now moves on to the semis on Tuesday, opponent and time to be determined.

FOOTBALL

Jake Trahan rushed for three TDs, including a 99-yard scoring run to pace the host Tomahawks.

Cody Keefe recovered two fumbles, blocked a punt, and also ran for a touchdown.

Kyle Gora tossed a 14-yard TD pass to Brendan Graham for the Broncos (0-4) lone score.

SOUHEGAN 41,

TIMBERLANE 8

Austin Jain tossed two TD passes to Luke Manning and Reese Colby to help the Sabers finish the short regular season unbeaten in Plaistow. They led 21-0 after the first quarter.

Lawhorn (72 yards), Mitch Hauser,(19 yards) Michael Maroun (1-yard), and freshman J.J. Bright all scored rushing TDs.

Maroun, Alex Karpawich and Nate Fritz led a great Saber defensive effort; Fritz had an interception return to the 2-3 Owls 1-yard line.

GIRLS SOCCER

SOUHEGAN 6,

SANBORN 0

Jackie Hayden and Anna Goyette had two goals apiece while Nathlie Patnaude and freshman Ava Bawell (first varsity goal) had single tallies for the Sabers.

Souhegan will take on Manchester West on the road in the Division II tournament prelims on Tuesday night.

BOYS SOCCER

SOUHEGAN 2,

Alex Lin (32nd minute) and Miles Drum (64th minute) scored for the Sabers, with assists coming from Etham Ramm and Sebastian Parker-Christou. Jake Morrisette had two saves in the Saber net.

The Sabers host Pelham in a Division II prelim round game on Wednesday.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 0

The Cards ended the regular season with a 25-18, 25-9, 25-20 sweep at the hands of the unbeaten Bulldogs.

Emma Charron had 13 digs while Meghan Stack added four kills. Maddy Keating (three kills, five digs) and Caroline Sullivan (six assists) led the Cards.
