Panthers blank Alvirne again; Tomahawks get first volleyball win

The Nashua High School South boys soccer team recorded its second win over Alvirne in five days, while the Merrimack girls volleyball team picked up its first win of the season. Here are all the local highlights from Friday:

BOYS SOCCER

NASHUA SOUTH 3,

ALVIRNE 0

The Panthers (5-1) grabbed their third straight win by shutting out the Broncos (3-2).

Rory Olsen led the offense with two goals and Jesse Hantula added one goal. South will host Merrimack on Wednesday and Alvirne visits Nashua North on Tuesday.

MERRIMACK 2,

SALEM 2

The Tomahawks (3-0-1) were down 2-0 with eight minutes to play, then Kyle Egan and Sawyer Hardy found the back of the net to tie the game. Goalie Aiden Laporte had nine saves in net. Merrimack hosts Nashua South on Wednesday.

CONCORD CHRISTIAN 4,

WILTON-LYNDEBOROUGH 3

The Warriors battled hard coming back from a 3-0 deficit, only to fall in the end. Troy Brennan and Sean Brennan had two and one goals, respectively.

The Warriors’ defense came out strong in the second half after Concord Christian scored of three out of their four in the first half.

WLC hosts Hinsdale on Wednesday.

GIRLS SOCCER

CONCORD CHRISTIAN 7,

WILTON-LYNDEBOROUGH 0

Despite the score, it was an even contest in possessions and shots, but the Warriors (2-4) could not capitalize on their opportunities.

Hiba Koudsi, Brooke Lane and Ella Kelley played well in the loss.

WLC visits Hinsdale on Wednesday.

CAMPBELL 4,

SANBORN 1

Hanna Keane nets two goals to lead the Cougars (3-3).

Evelina West and Kate Soule also scored, while Bailey Bourque made eight saves in net.

Campbell visits Hollis Brookline next Saturday.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3,

ALVIRNE 2

The Broncos (3-3) took the Cavaliers (5-0) the distance, but HB prevailed in the end by the scores of 25-12, 22-25, 22-25, 25-15, 15-7.

Meghan Coutu collected 15 kills and Sophie Jordan tossed up 28 assists. Hanna Close had a great all-around game with 11 kills, five aces and 11 digs and Jess Cooper had 20 digs.

Hollis Brookline travels to Bedford on Thursday and Alvirne visits Nashua North on Tuesday.

MERRIMACK 3,

SALEM 0

The Tomahawks wrangled up their first win of the season by sweeping the Blue Devils by the scores of 25-20, 25-23, 25-16.

Isabella Smith had a great performance collecting 10 assists, three blocks and five kills. Lindsey Hui had 16 digs and six aces, while Lily Petrocelli had six blocks.

Merrimack (1-4) hosts Nashua South next Friday.
