Tello has a huge day in Panthers’ goal; Sabers get big win

NASHUA — Nashua South High School field hockey goalie Courtney Tello had a day to remember on Wednesday.

Tello was amazing in goal with 45 saves, including a diving stop with 3 minutes left in regulation to preserve a 0-0 overtime tie with Pinkerton at South Field.

Don’t look now but the Panthers (2-0-1) are still unbeaten after three games.

South’s defense consisting of Soleil Dubois, Ruthy Mosley and Olivia Laro held its own against Pinkerton’s 27 corners.

Audra Robinson , Amy Marison and Nora Palkon were strong for the Panthers as well.

South travels to Pinkerton on Saturday.

FIELD HOCKEY

GOFFSTOWN 0

The Sabers got their second 1-0 win over the Grizzlies in three days, this time in regulation as Nicole O’Rourke scored with 3:40 left.

Annika Madeja had the assist as Souhegan controlled things throughout but just didn’t have the finishing touch until late. Annie Raduazzo had two saves in net.

GIRLS SOCCER

The Warriors, a Division IV team, rallied from a 4-1 halftime deficit to tie the Division I Blackbirds but fell late in the second OT.

Adri Bausha had the goal in the first half with an assist from Elizabeth Jacob, who scored twice in the second half, one on a penalty kick. Brooke Lane had a goal and an assist as well.

Bri Fish made 23 saves in the second half while eighth grader Hiba Koudsi had five great stops in the first 40 minutes.

Avery Krug and Ella Kelley were especially great in the center back positions.

The Cardinals totaled 217, behind match winner Timberlane (203), and host Dover (205) but ahead of the rival Panthers (239) at Cocheco Country Club.

Max Riordan led the Cards with a 41, followed by Ryan Horgan (42) Luke Mutty (43), Colby Rathbone (45) and Trent Rider (46).

Josh Gao led the Panthers with a 44, while Stephen Robbe had a 45 and Grace Conard a 48. Emma Kobbs and Mihira Bahua chipped in each with a 51.

CROSS COUNTRY

SOUHEGAN BOYS, GIRLS

TOP MILFORD

It was a sweep for the Sabers at Buckmeadow as the boys won 21-35 while the girls prevailed 21-38.

Milford’s Caleb Korthals took top honors in the boys race, however, in 16:50. But then the Sabers took the next four places, with Kariso Anderson (18:15), Josh Goddard (18:15), Nolan Dickinson (18:36), and Ethan McFee (18:49) rounding out the top five.

Milford’s Daniel Sixon broke up the Saber line in sixth (19:15), while Souhegan’s Sean Quinn was seventh in 19:17. The Spartans’ Caleb Fortunato and Patrick Lordan, and Souhegan’s Drew Apple rounded out the top 10.

In the girls race, Souhegan’s Chloe Trude took top honors in 18:31 as the Sabers took five of the top seven places for the win.

Milford’s Abby Halloran was second in 21:11, but Souhegan’s Emma Jarnagin (21:58) and Amanda Uliciny (22:13) took third and fourth. Milford’s Anna Philbrick (22:27) rounded out the top five. Souhegan’s Adri Zlotnick and Madeleine Glover rounded out the Saber scoring in sixth and seventh, respectively.

Milford’s Victoria Cornaro was eighth while Souhegan’s Molly Jennings and Riley Greene were ninth and 10, respectively.
