Telegraph file photo by TOM KING All Stater Cari Mastergeorge and the Souhegan Sabers open up their season today vs. Pelham in Amherst.

The high school sports season starts to pick up a little bit today.

While the school golf season has gotten underway, some of the other sports are going to begin to join in for Division II and III area schools. Some non-golf, non-football teams will open up their seasons this weekend.

Today the Milford High School girls soccer team will open up by hosting Pelham at 4:30 today. Also, at Souhegan High School, the Sabers field hockey team hosts Pelham at 6 p.m. while at the same time the girls volleyball team opens up vs. Pelham in the Souhegan gym.

On Saturday, the Milford volleyball team will host Campbell at 11 a.m. The field hockey team will be home vs. Hollis Brookline at Jaques Field at 2 p.m. while at the high school the Spartans boys soccer team hosts Pelham at MHS at 4:30 p.m.

Souhegan and Hollis Brookline will tangle in a soccer doubleheader on Saturday on the Saber Field turf.

The Sabers and Cavaliers boys soccer teams will tangle at 10 a.m. while the girls teams meet right afterward at 12:30 p.m. in the nightcap.

Things then completely area-wide next week, with Division I teams joining everyone else in all fall sports, highlighted by several Nashua North-South matchups. The football season starts next Friday.

Remember, fan participation is greatly limited. Check with home team schools for information.
