Holy Cross latest school to make offer to North’s Harris-Lopez

And now there are six.

Nashua High School North senior quarterback and top local athlete Curtis Harris-Lopez announced on social media Thursday that he has received his sixth college scholarship offer, this one from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester.

As he has been after announcing all of them, Harris-Lopez was humble and appreciative.

“Grateful to receive my 6th offer from @HcrossFB @CoachScottJames,” he tweeted. “Thank you to my teammates for helping me get here. @NHNfootball.”

Harris-Lopez has received five other offers. His last offer before Holy Cross came during the second week in August from Merrimack College.

Back in April, Harris-Lopez received an offer from Central Connecticut State University, located in New Britain, Conn.

But he also received two other offers last fall, one from the University of New Hampshire in November and his first in mid-October from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn.

We’ll next be scheduled to see Harris-Lopez in action on Sept. 25 when North opens up against arch rival Nashua South at Stellos Stadium. Harris-Lopez is, according to his coach, North’s Dante Laurendi, “chomping at the bit” to get going this season after he suffered a sprained knee that ended his season, forcing him to miss the last three games (one regular season, one playoff, and the Turkey Bowl).

That certainly didn’t stop any interest. He proved he was all the way back healthy as he played the entire basketball season with no problem until the pandemic forced the cancellation of the Division I tournament with North set to face Merrimack in the quarterfinals.

He obviously is visible as the Titans quarterback as this past season he ran for 1,436 yards and 21 touchdowns in just seven games. He also threw for 377 yards and four touchdowns.

But Harris-Lopez also makes quite an impression on the defensive side of the ball. Playing in the secondary, often at safety where he is known as a hard hitter, Harris had 58 tackles, two interceptions and one forced fumble.

Harris-Lopez was rated by Excel New England as one of the top 20 high school prep safeties in the region. He’s likely going to draw even more college interest as New Hampshire is the only New England state playing full 11 on 11 high school football this fall due to the ongoing pandemic.
