Kennett tops Hollis Brookline-Derryfield in hockey quarterfinals

No. 3 HB-Derryfield 3 (OT)

After a season of strong growth, the Warriors lose a disappointing semifinal round game in overtime.

Nick Dapolito opened the scoring, followed by a goal from Paul Vachon for an early 2-0 lead.

Kennett battled back to tie it up at two apiece. Aidan Chretien put the Warriors back on top in the third, only for the Eagles to tie it up on a power play goal to send it to OT.

The Eagles would go on to the score the game winning goal and advancing to the next round.

Hollis Brookline-Derryfield finish the season at 13-5-1.

Wrestling

New Englands

It was a good day for a couple local wrestlerswho made it into the semifinals at the New England High School Championships in Methuen, Mass.

Kyle Gora of Alvirne takes his No. 2 seed ranking at 170 into the semis. Anson Dewar (Merrimack) reaches the semis after taking down the No. 1 seed at 152 Colby Isabelle by 4-1 decision.

Zach Rioux (145) of Bishop Guertin and Griffin Ostrom (220) of Merrimack fared well in their respective consolation matches.

The action resumes today at 11 a.m. with the semifinals and consolation quarterfinals.

At 1:15 p.m.,the consolation semifinals are scheduled, followed by the Hall of Fame presentations, then the championship matches, third-place and fifth-place matches.
