Nashua South girls hoop ousts Manchester Central

By Hector Longo - Staff Writer | Mar 4, 2020

Less than a month ago, the Little Green blew out the Panthers by 15 points. That regular-season result mattered little in the Division I playoff opener on Wednesday night as No. 12 South ousted No. 4 Central, 44-40.

South, led by Catherine Covert with 13 points, built a lead as large as 10 points on the road before holding off a wild, Little Green rally.

The hosts, who finished the year at 12-7, got as close as three in the final minute, before South hung on.

Kirsten McIntire added 10 points, and Aryanna Murray added eight.

Now 9-10, South now looks for its second straight upset on Saturday night (7 p.m.) when the Panthers head to No. 4 Bedford. The Bulldogs KO’d Exeter, 78-47, to claim their spot in the state quarterfinals.
