By Tom King - Staff Writer | Feb 25, 2020

It was one up, one down for the remaining high school games on the Monday of vacation week:

GIRLS BASKETBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 71,

PORTSMOUTH 26

The Cardinals (16-1) got back on the winning track behind Erin Carney’s 19 points and 18 from Bri Wilcox.

Addison Smith added nine for the Cards, who led 31-15 at the half and never looked back. Guertin wraps up its regular season Friday night at home vs. Goffstown.

BOYS HOCKEY

KEENE 4,

MERRIMACK 3 (OT)

The visiting Tomahawks dropped a heartbreaker as Keene’s Ben Brown netted the game winner at 1:40 of the extra session.

Merrimack got two goals from Dom Carozza and a single tally by Evan Roy. Carozza sent the game into overtime with his second goal, unassisted, at 11:10 of the third period. Assists on the day went to Owen Miner and Andrew Frothingham. Merrimack was without top scorer Zach Stimeling, who was ill.

The win keeps Keene (13-2-2) in the top spot in Division II, while the Tomahwks, who host Kingswood Wednesday, are now 11-4-1.
