Tomahawks notch another win over struggling Admirals

It was a busy night locally Wednesday for hockey, basketball and wrestling, as well as gymnastics. Here’s a look:

BOYS HOCKEY

MERRIMACK 7,

ALVIRNE-MILFORD 2

Dylan Sadowski led the scoring for Merrimack (8-2) with two goals and two assists. Dom Carozzo, Andrew Frothingham and Zach Stimeling each had a goal and an assist, while other goals were by Kai Schimp and Evan Roy. Owen Miner had three assists on the day.

Corey Girouard and Dylan Greenlaw scored for the 2-11 Admirals, with assists going to Hayden Ricard, Matt Ryan and Girouard.

Merrimack Goalie Matt Licata made 16 saves.

WINDHAM 2,

NASHUA NORTH-SOUHEGAN 0

The Jaguars got a goal from Bobby DiCicco midway through the first period and made it hold up, adding an empty netter in the final minute. Colin Duckliss had 25 saves for the Saber-Titans (4-7-1).

WRESTLING

BISHOP GUERTIN 56,

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 18

The Cards got wins by Anthony Fernandez at 106 (pin), Calvin Jozokos at 126 (pin), Connor MacDonald at 132 (15-0), Steve Bouchard at 138 (pin), Zach Rioux at 145 (9-2), James Murphy at 152 (pin), Matt Frechette at 160 (7-4), Josef Homola at 170 (3-1, overtime), Matt Ha at 182 (pin), Zach Connerty at 220 (pin) and Nick Connerty at 285 (pin).

The Cavs got a forfeit at 113 and pins by Troy Moscatelli at 120 and Henry Burns at 195.

MILFORD 54,

PORTSMOUTH 18

Deacon Currier, Rudy schnare, Greg Gagnon, Brien Faucher, Rory Oconnor, and Daniel Debernardo all recorded pins for the Spartans, who took just one loss the entire match.

LONDONDERRY 42,

ALVIRNE 31

The Broncos got wins by Tim Barrett by fall at 145, Nicholas Maniatakos by decision (16-9) at 160, Kyle Gora by fall at 170, Jackson McGovern 8-0 at 120, and Kyle Clark by fall at 126.

GIRL BASKETBALL

SALEM 53,

NASHUA NORTH 42

It was a two-point game down the stretch until injuries caught up to the Titans (3-9), who got 10 points from Victoria Conrad while Jordyn Choate (nine) and Kaitlyn Laurendi (six) also helped out.

MANCHESTER CENTRAL 48,

NASHUA SOUTH 33

The Panthers fell to 5-7 despite 12 points from Aryanna Murray. Catherine Covert added seven while Julianna Martin had five. South visits North on Friday in the Battle of the Bridge.

MERRIMACK 51,

LONDONDERRY 44

The visiting Tomahawks outscored Londonderry 15-6 in the fourth quarter to improve to 12-0, setting up a battle of unbeatens at Bishop Guertin on Friday night.

Leading the way for the Tomahawks were Makenna Desfosses with 13, Riley Crampton with 12, and Samantha Page with 11. Crampton scored the final 10 points for the Tomahawks.

MERRIMACK VALLEY 59,

MILFORD 26

The 0-13 Spartans hung tough but were outscored 19-6 in the third quarter

Jessie Gendron and Sarah Dobbs each had six points for Milford, while Ally Godlewski had five.

BOYS BASKETBALL

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 66,

MERRIMACK VALLEY 52

The host Cavaliers led wire-to-wire and got 22 points from Grant Snyder while

Matt Dias added 14 and Quinten Wimmer had nine.

Hollis Brookline (7-3) will visit John Stark on Friday.

CO-ED UNIFIED BASKETBALL

BERLIN 60,

NASHUA SOUTH 36

Ashton Henry-Brown, Jason Boudle, Conner Lee, Jasmine McHard, Zach Boudle, Angalee St. Denis, Kyra Harrington, Yadiel Morales and Corey O’Connor all scored for the Panthers.

South visits North today at 3 p.m. in the Battle of the Bridge

NASHUA NORTH 36,

KEENE 35

Megan Wiggett scored 10 points in the fourth quarter and Tommy Richard knocked down two clutch free throws with five seconds left to seal it for the Titans.

GYMNASTICS

NORTH DOES WELL

The Titans finished behind Nashua South in a multi-team meet (for Battle of the Bridge purposes), but had a team score of 104.550. Sophomore April Koczalka tied for third place All-Around with a score of 33.300.

North is now idle until the State Meet on Feb. 15.
