Titans finish regular season unbeaten with 7-0 win

By Tom King - Staff Writer | Nov 2, 2019

Undefeated.

The visiting Nashua High School North football team closed out the regular season with a tough 7-0 road win over Portsmouth on Friday night, allowing the Titans to finish the regular season a perfect 9-0.

But playing without injured standout quarterback and the state’s leading rusher, Curtis Harris, who is nursing a knee injury, wasn’t easy.

The Titans and Clipper were scoreless through two quarters, but Jayden Espinal found Sam Nichols for a 23-yard TD pass with 4:49 left in the third quarter. Lucas Cunningham added the PAT kick, and those were all the points the Titans would need, thanks to their stingy defense. Pacing the North defense were Devin Bracetty and Anthony Sexton. Meanwhile, Bracetty, Anthony Greene and Brian Mwangi ran for some tough yards.

Espinal added an interception, and the Titans were able to control the field position game thanks to the punting of Sam Nicholls.

North will host a Divison I quarterfinal next Saturday at Stellos Stadium, likely against either Merrimack or Bishop Guertin.
