HB boys tennis, BG volleyball win on rainy game day

Only a few local teams were in action on Monday due to the weather, and there were only a couple of victories as well:

BOYS LACROSSE

EXETER 20,

NASHUA SOUTH 8

The Panthers fell to 1-1, despite a four-goal effort by Joe Bodi and having four others figure in the scoring: Connor Rowsell (goal, two assists), Drew Fleury and Joe Buturla (goal apiece) and Jaden Murphy (goal, assist). Dominic Pasquale (six saves) and Ethan Johnson (two) shared goaltending duties for the Panthers, who visit Chelmsford, Mass.on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

LONDONDERRY 9,

SOUHEGAN 8 (OT)

Curtis Redd had four goals and Nick Jordan three but the Sabers fell to 1-1 after a Lancer sudden death goal in the extra session. Will Boyle had a goal and John Lohnes 13 saves in net for the Sabers, who visit Salem on Wednesday.

BOYS TENNIS

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 8,

COE-BROWN 1

The Cavaliers swept singles, losing just five games, to decide the match, as winners down the ladder were Nic Vahe (8-0), Darius Paradie (8-0), David Cherkassky (8-4), Alex Anghel (8-0), Ben Zielinski (8-0) and Cole Lorig (8-1).

Doubles winners by 8-1 scores were Lorig/Sreekar Chilaspati and Rory Klauber/Will Pesiridis.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 3,

COE-BROWN 0

The Cardinals improved to 2-1 with a sweep of 25-15, 25-16, 25-22. Joe Noon had an ace, nine kills, three blocks and six digs while other key Cards were Victor Martinez (six aces, three kills, nine digs), Chris Barillas – (three aces, three kills, 19 assists, seven digs) and

D.J. Omogrosso (two aces, five blocks).

TIMBERLANE 3,

SOUHEGAN 2

The Sabers (1-2) lost their second straight but played one of the traditional powers (2-1) tough to the tune of 18-25, 25-17, 24-26, 25-21, 6-15. Top locals included Kaled Nazeer (19 kills, six digs), Mike Estabrook (12 kills), Eli Young (32 assists) and Jake Aselin (five blocks, seven kills).

Souhegan is at Mascenic on Wednesday.

WINDHAM 3,

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 0

The Cavaliers (1-2) ran into a hot Jaguar team (4-0) that has lost just two sets in the young season. HB is at Coe-Brown on Wednesday.
