Nashua South’s Coffin dominates Invitational

Nashua South sophomore Cali Coffin (17 minutes, 21.3 seconds) crossed the finish line a minute before her closest competitor to secure first place in the Nashua North Invitational girls varsity race at Mine Falls Park.

The Panthers girls placed sixth as a team with 139 points. The top five teams were Salem (62 points), Groton-Dunstable (80), Concord (89), Bishop Guertin (109) and Merrimack (139). Nashua North (143) and Hollis Brookline (238) were eighth and ninth.

Local individuals in the top 25 were: Bishop Guertin’s Caroline Towle (fourth, 18:41.2), ; Nashua North’s Arianna Braccio (fifth, 18:57.8), ; Merrimack’s Adele Alexander (eighth, 19:23.2), Lauren Brennan (12th, 19:48.0); Nashua South’s Lydia Mathson (13th, 19:48.5); BG’s Rose Goyette (19th, 20:27.0); and Alvirne’s Dominique Milinazzo (22nd, 20:38.7) and Ella Simpson (25th, 20:52.7).

On the boys side, Nashua North (118) was fourth behind Concord (24), Londonderry (72) and Pinkerton Academy (96). Merrimack (174), Alvirne (181) and BG (207) finished sixth, seventh and eighth. Hollis Brookline (240) and Nashua South (322) were 10th and 11th.

Individually, North junior Joseph Curran (16:07.1) was the top local finisher in fourth. Concord senior Forest MacKenzie (15:35.4) was first.

Other local boys in the top 25 were: North’s Gediyon Prince (10th, 16:23.4); HB’s Kenny Corsetti (14th, 16:35.4); Alvirne’s Paul Balletto (19th, 16:48.3); BG’s Ben Danielson (24th, 17:03.7); and Merrimack’s Andrew Peyton (25th, 17:04.3).

Souhegan girls second, boys fourth at Bobcat Invitational

Souhegan’s Arielle Zlotnick (19 minutes, 28.9 seconds) and Chloe Trudell (19:35.7) finished fourth and seventh individually to pace the Sabers girls cross country team to a second-place finish at Saturday’s Bobcat Invitational at Tibbetts Field in Madbury.

The Sabers had six runners in the top 50 on their way to a runner-up total of 112 points, 60 behind Phillips Exeter. ConVal (113), Oyster River (154) and Campbell (159) rounded out the top five.

The top local runner was Milford senior Lauren Robinson (19:20.4), who finished second to Merrimack Valley freshman Sophia Reynolds (18:52.4).

Milford scored 189 points for eighth as a team.

Other locals in the top 50 were: Campbell’s Cassie Hemming (12th, 20:45.6), Megan Whitnell (17th, 20:57.2), Riley Gamache (37th, 21:40.5) and Michelle Freeman (50th, 22:30.2); Milford’s Abby Halloran (23rd, 21:16.2), Lori DeMambro (35th, 21:35.0); and Souhegan’s Adrianna Zlotnick (33rd, 21:32.9), Jenny Ladd (36th, 21:38.6), Sophie Unger (38th, 21:41.9) and Molly Jennings (49th, 22:26.5).

On the boys side, Campbell senior Jeffrey Allen (16:32.3) earned runner-up honors. He crossed the finish line 11.3 seconds behind Merrimack Valley senior David Reynolds. Milford sophomore Caleb Korthals was the only other local in the top 10 with a run of 17:03.8 for seventh place.

Souhegan posted the best finish as a team with 119 points for fourth place. Winnacunnet (62), Oyster River (83) and Phillips Exeter (92) earned the top three spots.

Campbell finished seventh with 192 points. Joining Allen in the top 50 were Matthew Dion (48th, 18:26.3) and Tyler Scopelites (50th, 18:27.3), while Trevor Scopelites came in just behind his brother in 51st (18:28.7).

Other Souhegan runners in the top 50 were Nathan Stine (14th, 17:22.2), Thomas Headington (20th, 17:36.6), Carter Schade (17:56.5), Ethan McFee (31st, 17:57.3) and Mason Silk (32nd, 18:03.1).
