High School Highlights: BG boys lacrosse wins big

BOYS LACROSSE

Bishop Guertin 13,

Duxbury (Mass.) 7

The Cardinals scored six unanswered in the third quarter to snap a 4-4 tie and move to 17-0 in a battle of two New England powers.

“That was a statement game,” Guertin coach Chris Cameron said. “This was a huge game for us. Our goal was to go 6-0 out-of-state.”

Brian Cameron had three goals in that decisive period, and added two assists. Brennan McInnis had four goals and two assists, while others scoring for BG were Sean Cameron (two goals, assist), Drew Hailey (two goals), Kyle Fisher and Ben Abladian (goal each).

Merrimack 17, Concord 13

The Tomahawks are now 3-11 after Jordan Petrocelli had five goals and Jay Lanigan added three with four assists. Pat Steines also had three goals while T.J. Fasano and Ben Eichman each had two goals, one assist. Ryan Bobbitt scored two, his first varsity goals, while Luccas Booth added an assist.

Colin Wandell, Ian Covell and Jacob Newman all played well defensively in front of goalie Garrett Murray (10 saves). Merrimack wraps up the season at Bedford on Thursday.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Souhegan 18,

Manchester Central 1

The Sabers improved to 15-2 behind four goals and three assists from Taylor Clark, as well as three from Abby Cranney. Others in the scoring column: Brigid Casey (two goals, two assists), Sammi Jay, (two goals, one assist), Mallor Chamberlain, O’Neill Galinson, Nicole O’Rourke, (goal, assist each), Oxygen Aiello, Abby Hawkes, Kate Lindsey and Savannah Behn (goal each).

Alex LaBrosse had five saves. The Sabers wrap up the regular season Friday vs. Concord.

Hollis Brookline 18,

Merrimack Valley 2

The Sabers wound up the regular season at 11-4 as Cece Fetter had five goals, including her 100th career tally, plus an assist. Kelsy Sweeney (four goals, four assists), Victoria Bruzik (three goals), Paisley Broadhurst (two goals, 50 for career, plus two assists), Tasha White (goal, assist, six draw controls), Abbey Magnuszewski and Brooke Allanach (goal each) all contributed.

Caroline Smith, Reagan Berry and Josie Farwell played well defensively in front of Olivia Valentine (five saves). The Cavs will host a playoff game next Wednesday.

Softball

Milford 4, St. Thomas 0

The Milford High girls finished off the regular season at a perfect 16-0, and they did it in style. Jenna DeAngelis struck out 17 and walked just two in the complete-game two-hitter. Raven Comtois doubled and scored. Paige Delier had two hits, scoring once and driving in a run. Abby Stillwagon and Abby Sites also had big hits.

Campbell 7, Monadnock 0

Olivia Byers dazzled in the circle, allowing only two hits in the shutout, fanning seven for the Cougars. Meghan Gibbons (triple) and Emma Rousseau (double) provided the big hits. Mary Kuczkowski, Cassidy Gibbons and Abi Gray all rapped key singles.

Keene 7, Merrimack 6

Gritty Merrimack battled into the ninth inning before dropping its eighth straight on the road in Keene. Freshman Lindsey Hui went 3 for 4. Brenna Davenport and Erin Knauer roped two hits apiece. Allie O’Brien, Jess Trahan and Nadia Hackney each added a hit for the 3-14 Tomahawks, who finish up the regular season Friday by hosting

Memorial.

Souhegan 14, Portsmouth 2

Ava VanBallegooyen tripled twice and drove in three runs to power the Sabers. Maddie Robicheau also drove in three runs.

Mary Rotthoff and Carrie Speer each rapped three hits, while Cameron Whitney spun a four-hitter for the win. Souhegan, now 10-4, hosts Hollis Brookline Thursday at 4 p.m.

Dover 15, Nashua South 3

Delia Callery kick-started the South offense with a first-inning RBI single. Erica Frothingham and Courtney Olsen each had a pair of hits for South which drops to 3-14 with one game left.

Windham 13, Hollis Brookline 4

Hollis Brookline, now 3-12 with one game left, dropped its eighth straight. Kara Lukovits drove in a pair with one of the four Cavaliers hits. Isabel Keefe, Skylar Mack and Avery Webb had the other hits for Hollis Brookline.

Baseball

Dover 6, Nashua South 2

Seth Marcano had two hits for the Panthers, who fall to 9-10 with one game left in the regular season.

Roe Hendrick and Mason Matylewski had a hit apiece.

Exeter 18, Nashua North 4

Varun Lingadal doubled and drove in three for the 9-10 Titans.

Will Brooks added a hit and an RBI.

North hosts Londonderry in the regular-season finale Friday.

St. Thomas 10, Milford 5

Milford had 10 hits and five stolen bases but it wasn’t enough because the Saints put up five in the sixth.

Kolbe Heiple went 3-for-3 with two doubles, driving in a pair for the Spartans.

Max Fortin and Trevor Coyne each had a double and two RBIs for 7-8 Milford.

Bishop Guertin 6, Spaulding 5

The Cardinals worked overtime, traveling to Rochester and pulling out the dramatic win in the ninth. Ryan Gallagher earned the win in relief with 2.2 innings of one-hit relief. He fanned six. Brett Anderson terrorized the Red Raiders with four hits, including a double, and a pair of RBIs. Alex George had three hits, and both Stephen McClendon and Taylor Proulx added a pair each. The Cards host Winnacunnet Friday night at Holman Stadium.

Windham 3, Hollis Brookline 1

After eight scoreless frames, the Cavaliers dropped another heartbreaker in the regular season finale. Windham plated three unearned runs in the ninth. Joe Brown pitched seven-plus scoreless frames, and Max Mello also pitched well in relief. Mitch Dreyer had three hits for the 6-10 Cavs.

Timberlane 6, Alvirne 2

Josh Trzcienski and Hayden Callery each managed two hits for the Broncos with Callery contributing an RBI. He also crashed into the fence in foul territory to make an outstanding catch. Parth Patel pitched 1.1 innings of hitless relief , striking out three.

Campbell 9, Monadnock 1

Jayson Neild pitched 5.1 innings for the winning, scattering only four hits. Neild swung the bat brilliantly as well with two hits and two RBIs. Nick Boucher continued scorch the baseball with three hits and three runs scored for the 9-5 Cougars. James Cardello singled and doubled, driving in a pair.

Portsmouth 9, Souhegan 0

The Sabers were no-hit by the Clippers’ Trevor Van Allen, who fanned 12 and walked one. The only Sabers to reach base were Max Zifchak on a walk in the first and Aiden Casey via an infield error in the second. Van Allen retired the next 17 straight.

Bobby Henline took the loss for the Sabers (7-8), allowing seven runs in two innings. Adam Levesque pitched five innings of two-hit relief, allowing two unearned runs. Souhegan, likely tourney-bound, will host Goffstown on Friday in what will likely be head coach Bill Dod’s final home game of his 50-year career.

Hopkinton 4,

Wilton-Lyndeborough 3

Down 4-2 in the seventh, Wilton-Lyndeborough scratched for one, but left the potential game-tying run on the bases, ending a nine-game win streak for the 13-2

Warriors.
