Dover eliminates Merrimack

By Staff | Jun 6, 2014

Dover 6, Merrimack 3

The Tomahawks upset bid came just a bit short, as top seed Dover managed to pull out a win to advance to Division I quarterfinals. For Merrimack, Mickey Gasper had two doubles and two RBIs, while Justin Grassini had a hit and an RBI. Mark Feeney added three hits. On the mound, Kyle Lawson pitched three and a third innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs. Grassini came in as relief and pitched two and two-thirds, surrendering two earned runs on four hits.

Coach Nick Jaskolka was proud of his players, especially his captains, “I want to give all the credit to my guys, we started off really slow and we could have folded, it started with our captains Gasper and (Devin) Gillies. They were amped up every day for practice. Regardless of how good or bad we were playing, they got everyone into it. They set a precedent for the future, they taught our younger guys a lot.”
