Minear Pitches Gem, Leads Merrimack to Upset Win

By Staff | Jun 4, 2014

Catlin Minear pitched a complete-game gem to lead No. 11 Merrimack past No. 6 Manchester Central, 6-2. The junior pitcher allowed only one earned run in the outing.

Brittany Camara led the way offensively for the Tomahawks, compiling three hits and three runs scored. Renee LeClaire scored a pair of runs runs and Ashley Grassini had two RBIs. Anjelica Gonzalez added an RBI single.

“The bats came alive against one of the best pitching staffs in the state,” said coach Jim Peltak.

While the squad had a standout day on the mound and at the plate, Peltak thought the team especially excelled in another area.

“Defense,” he said. “The kids just played lockdown defense.”
