FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Mac Jones continues to draw rave reviews from his teammates.

“Guts,” New England Patriots center David Andrews said of his quarterback after Sunday’s 35-29 overtime loss to the Dallas Cowboys. “He’s got some guts, some gusto. Talk about mental toughness.”

Andrews was talking about how Jones came back a play or two later from throw ing a pick six that put Dallas up 26-21 with 2:27 to play in regulation. His 75-yard toss to Kendrick Bourne – ironically the intended receiver on the interception – was overplayed by the Cowboys’ Diggs and Bourne was off to the races for the go ahead TD jus 16 seconds after Jones’ ill-fated pass.

“I think that’s the ebbs and flows of football,” Jones said of the game’s emotional roller coaster. “You’ve just got to play the next play and do your job to the best of your ability. I left some plays on the field, but it is what it is.”

How does he feel coming back with a big play after making such a big mistake?

“I’m sure there was something I could do better on a lot of plays, and that play was one of them,” Jones said, talking about the interception. “You’ve just to play the next play and you’re only as good as your last play.”

Jones may not have a lot of wins yet but already has an NFL record. After completing 15 of 21 passes for 229 yards and two TDs and that one INT, he is the first rookie quarterback to complete at least 70 percent of his passes in five of his first six games.

LAMB ON GAME-WINNER

Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb said he was stunned to be so wide open on his 35-yard game-winning reception in overtime.

“It was an unbelievable feeling,” he said. “I was expecting somebody to come up behind me, I turned around to my left and he (Jalen Mills) was like three steps behind me. I was really surprised and then I just walked in.”

INACTIVES

Injured offensive lineman Shaq Mason headed the Patriots inactives list, followed by second-year players running back J.J.Taylor and tight end Devin Asiasi. Also out were corners Shaun Wade and JoeJuan Williams, plus linebacker Ronnie Perkins.

The Cowboy inactives were quarterback Will Grier, safety Israel Mukuamu, defensive end Bradlee Anae, wide receiver Simi Feholi, and defensive end Dorance Armstrong.
