Patriots-Broncos Monday game is now postponed
The New England Patriots game with the Denver Broncos, scheduled for Monday at 5 p.m. at Gillette Stadium, has been postponed, the NFL announced Sunday morning, in the wake of another reported COVID-19 positive test with the Patriots.
ESPN is reporting the game will be rescheduled to next Sunday, which was the Patriots bye week, and Denver’s originally scheduled game with the Miami Dolphins will be moved. But as of now, the league had not announced a new date and time for the game.
“Both teams will have a Week 5 bye,” the NFL said in a statement regarding the Broncos and Patriots. “This decision was made to ensure the health and safety of players, coaches and game day personnel and in consultation with medical experts.”
ESPN reported this morning that there was another positive test within the Patriots organization and that the Gillette Stadium facility was shut down for the day today.
This will be the third rescheduling for the game. Originally it was set to be today at 1 p.m., but was shifted to 4:25 a couple of weeks ago for non-pandemic reasons. Then, after positive tests for first Cam Newton and then Stephon Gilmore as well as practice squad player Bill Murray, the game was then moved to Monday. And now apparently will be next weekend, pending official word.
