NFL moves Patriots-Broncos game to Monday evening

By Tom King - Staff Writer | Oct 8, 2020

The New England Patriots game vs. Denver, originally scheduled for Sunday at 4:25 p.m. at Gillette Stadium, has been moved by the NFL to an early Monday night game at 5 p.m. EDT, the league announced.

Reports out of Denver first revealed the switch. The game will be televised by ESPN, not CBS, which originally had the game, creating doubleheader with the regularly scheduled Monday night game between the L.A. Chargers and New Orleans Saints.

The Patriots have had their facility closed for two days after cornerback Stephon Gilmore tested positive. ESPN has reported they will not practice again on Friday, continuing to prepare for the Broncos with virtual meetings.

It will be the second straight Monday night rescheduled game for the Patriots, who played at Kansas City last Monday night after quarterback Cam Newton had tested positive a week ago. That forced the move from its original Sunday Oct. 4 slot.
