Patriots sign QB Cam Newton; also lose third round pick

By Staff and wire reports - | Jun 28, 2020

The New England Patriots have reportedly signed veteran quarterback Cam Newton to a one-year contract late Sunday, according to multiple reports.

The deal is said to be incentive-laden, and could be worth up to $7.5 million.

Newton started just two games for the Carolina Panthers last year before ending up on injured reserve and was released in the off-season. He was the top pick by the Panthers in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Also, the Patriots reportedly have lost their 2021 third round draft pick and were fined $1.1 million for having a TV crew filming the Cincinnati Bengals sideline last year during a Dec. 8 game vs. Cleveland.
