New beginning ‘on my own’ prompts need for household items

By Chris Graham - Chris' Mailbag | Jan 14, 2023

Chris Graham

“Standing alone doesn’t mean I’m alone…it means I’m strong enough to handle things all by myself”. While this inspirational quote found on line definitely has merit, helping hands and support from others is often a godsend, especially when change is intertwined with new opportunities for personal growth. Beginning a new phase in life, a Mailbag reader reaches out to the community to help turn a new home into her very own ‘home sweet home’!

‘My own home’ wish list. …

“Life has put many challenges in my path including the loss of my spouse, increased responsibilities, and relocation, however, I am about to move into a place of my own for the first time in over a decade” says Leslie R. of Nashua. “I am hoping some good people may be able to help me with some items I could really use including a dining room table and chairs, dressers, end tables and a coffee table. I would also really appreciate a vacuum cleaner, TV, TV stand, and a desk. With my limited income, this would be a great help. Thank you.” Chris’ Mailbag readers have brought many miracles into other’s lives and it’s hoped this will occur again. If you can help Leslie, she can be reached at: lesliearyan1982@yahoo.com.

Looking for a recliner

“Having a recliner would be a tremendous help with problems I’m having with my back” says Mitch B. of Nashua. “Even when trying to sleep, finding a comfortable position keeps me awake. I’m looking for a large recliner since I’m a larger man. Around 1850, the French introduced a reclining camp bed that could serve as a chair, a bed and a chaise lounge, portable, it featured a frame and padded arm rests. The ‘rest of the story’ goes on to the classic foot-rest addition in the 1960s and the continued popularity as a ‘rest’ alternative for many from a conventional bed. Anyone with a large recliner available to help Mitch, should please contact him at: Mitchell@heartspsa.org.

You can leave these items anytime 24/7 in the donation shed to the right of our front entry door or you are welcome to bring inside during our open hours.” 734 pets were adopted from the Humane Society of Greater Nashua in 2021 · Over 2,500 animals received medical care each year, with shelter provided to 555 stray or abandoned animals in 2021.
