By Chris Graham - Chris' Mailbag | Aug 20, 2022

Chris Graham

The pandemic of the past few years has brought changes to many of our lives, disruption of familiar routines, concerns of financial security, and perhaps having to make unexpected decisions. Social distancing curtailed handshakes and hugs, masks altered appearances, affected communication. On the positive side many realized the importance of keeping in touch by phone, email, and social media, reaffirming our need for one another. Chris’ Mailbag once again welcomes readers to communicate their needs and share items with those in need. The Mailbag column will be a mid-month feature in the Sunday Telegraph.

Repairs needed to pool table at H.E.A.R.T.S.

The mission of H.E.A.R.T.S. Peer Support Center in Nashua is to support people challenged by the daily effects of living, coping, and recovering from mental health issues. H.E.A.R.T.S., an acronym which stands for ‘Hope, Empowerment, Advocacy, Recovery, Towards Support’, provides informational, educational, and supportive services including recreational activities. Executive Director Ken Lewis (LTR 2,663) says, “It would be a great help if someone with the expertise to repair our pool table would donate their services. The fabric cover is turn and the pockets are damaged. This is a popular activity for our members and help with this project would be greatly appreciated.” H.E.A.R.T.S., impacted by the pandemic, is now fully operational. Located at 5 Pine St. Ext. #1g, in Nashua’s Mill House Cove, the agency is open Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and new members are always welcome. Ken Lewis can be reached at 603-882-8400 or via email: kenl-hearts@comcast.net.. More information regarding H.E.A.R.T.S. can be found at: www.heartspsa.org.

Attention crafters, bags of assorted yarn available

During the past two years a number of readers have asked about Chris’ Mailbag, inquired about the status of the column, whether I’d retired and now living in some tropical paradise, etc. Like many folks, the ‘Mailbag Lady’ is a survivor, busy as ever, and always happy when opportunities are present to help others. Several months ago a ‘friend of the Mailbag’ dropped off several large bags of assorted yarn along with quilting supplies which are available to anyone or any organization that perhaps knits or crochets items to help those less fortunate. Interested parties should please contact me at the email listed at the bottom of this column, along with a brief explanation of the intended use. Delivery may be possible in the greater Nashua area.

Contact Chris’ Mailbag by emailing christine.graham33@gmail.com or sending mail to Chris’ Mailbag c/o The Telegraph, 110 Main St., Suite 1, Nashua 03060.
